i got a HP Mini 110 and i'm running Ubuntu 11.04 vía Wubi because i wanted to test it, i run LMMS and it's just a great option and it's amazing what you can do with it. I tried to Record some audio with Ardour but i couldn't get the audio channel to work, i mean this thing was recording everything with the netbook's mic but not with the audio interface i was triying....any help ? i really want to make my netbook to run this programs because i want to make my own music....thanks
How well does this support VSTplugins? One of the reasons I cant completely let windows go is because I use VST's Like GuitarRig3, ReValver, Omnisphere, Nexus.
@dynetrax Not yet. But ardour3 is in its alpha phase so soon when it's out you'll be able to use VST plugins. For the moment if I am right you could use LMMX and connect it to Ardour with Jack and open a VST through there.
@dynetrax: Linux supports VST, but only through WINE. I would not jeopardize My system (at lest not my main system) by installing WINE on it. Also, the need for WINE tells me that most likely VST it not Open-Source (Security issues #2). I have no problem using Closed-Source Software if there is not an Open-Source alternative. Since I have not used VST I couldn't compare it to anything.
@dynetrax: From what I know about VST it's a package of instruments and effects. I have all the Open-Source instruments and effects I need. I will have to give VST a try though, because it keeps coming up in conversations. I'm assuming that it's like an OpenOffice verses MS Office argument. People refuse to use OpenOffice because they are not familiar with it and they have false ideas about it. But, that is just a guess since I have not used VST.
@metalx1000 Thats funny.. that one "hmm" really meant, "hmm i'll be using THIS an awful lot in the future to fix all my timing errors, and for the bands I record.

@analyzingfunny: oh, I thought we were just making weird noise at each other. Then stretching them to match BPM :)
