@GMMaydie there was a lot of missing, and true they are probably not experts but I bet it is harder than you think. I didn't notice any .50cal they looked like .30's, and they were old school, made for volume of fire not accuracy. It looked like it was moving 40-50mph (some rc planes can hit 90mph) at maybe 150 yards with about 5-6 square feet of target in a long rectangle. That would look like a blip at that distance. I'd like to give it a try though.

The target was a "Queen Bee", a radio controlled Tiger moth, which flew unconcernedly through a massive curtain of flak, for quite some time. @ohmyfrikingod comparitively speaking, outside of a lucky hit, none of those weapons possessed sufficient accuracy as mounted to be effective against such a small target, assuming the aircraft operator would ever give them a shot. As it was, the aircraft was far too manuevorable to be hit easily. Especially since its operator had the ability to follow the tracers visually. The only thing that might have helped was some measure of practice as a team boxing the aircraft into converging fire.
