Wow, were haven't you been? It's going to take some time to fully appreciate your 404 videos. Thanks for doing this. You put a lot of time and effort into traveling the world. Way to go!
I'd go more and do more, but work 11 months out of the year and just getting a small financial base started, but thankful my work took me to see the world and even experience what it's like living in other cultures. I'll soon be putting a new HD camera to use and look to have some vids up this Winter.
Glad you like this clip. But there are really 35 complete, free videos from which all clips are merely samples. If you would like to watch one of these, such as "Gamelan, Garuda and Ganesh" on Bali and Java, ask a search engine for:
Yeah..centuries ago, there were Indian fishermen who got blown off track and ended up in Southeast Asia. They showed some of their culture. Later, one of the Indian empires introduced the cultural aspects, such as dance. Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia have been influenced too.
Never seen my editing dissected in such an informative manner.
If you like this Balinese dance clip, there is a great deal more in the free Bali/Java travel video of which it is a part, "Gamelan, Garuda & Ganesh". You need a broadband connection. Ask a search engine for:
Ooo nice! I think that if you like this one than watch out for a new doc that should come out in 2009 called Bali - Sacred and Secret - I believe there's a website with that name
Seems and sounds like the Peliatan gamelan and dances. They are one of the very few groups in Bali who give regular tourist show with better quality. I love the group because they would show other Legong stories/dances, not just the typical Legong Kraton
The first dance i believe is Pendet in Peliatan version, it is the same genre as Panyembrama, Gabor, etc. Known to tourist as just Welcoming dance.
Keep in mind that this clip is only a small sample of the many different Balinese dance styles shown in my video, "Gamelan, Garuda and Ganesh" which can be watched by going to the Intrepid Berkeley Explorer site.
Can someone provide me with the instruments played in this and other Balinese dance videos? Thanks.

Three types of dances....
0.00 - 0.07: Panyembrama, the common welcome dance
0.07 - 0.16: Palegongan
0.16 - 0.21: forgot the name, another type of welcome dance
0.21 - 0.30: back to Palegongan
0.30 - finish: back to the 2nd welcome dance
God... I'm so smart.. !!
