i hate all these hitting penalties as much as anyone and don't think they should protect quarterbacks near as much. buuut, given the rules, jared allen could have very easily avoided that. it is hard to hold up when you're running unblocked at the quarterback just because it's so enticing to lay him out, but allen definitely took that last big lunge to try to make it look like he wasn't late, which he was.

Ok ya morons. The reason for the roughing call was because of the helmet to helmet contact that Allen intiated. He lowered his head, hit Rodgers in the head with his helmet, then threw his hands up like he did nothing. He should not have led with his head. He could have prevented that contact. His foult, a clear penalty, and a good call. Get over it.

Huge Green Bay fan but I have to say, he was doing his job and when he initially got after Rodgers, he had the ball. Going that fast, it can be hard to stop on a dime. It was an accident. Not worth calling a penalty but, that's the way it went down. No reason to complain now.

You can't hit the quarterback below the knee, you cant hit him above the shoulder and you can't drive throw the body. The NFL might as well make it two hand touch on the quarterback. Defensive players are not allowed to hit anyone or they will be fined. You cant dance in the end zone after scoring a touchdown. This is not the same NFL that I grew up watching. Roger Godell if you intention was to make the NFL unwatchable then Good Job A**Hole!

Dudee i hate when people say everyone deserves the same treatment. There just protecting the Qbs, P, and K's cus they have less padding than the others players. Soo if u take a big hit, its gonna fucking hurt more cus u dont have much padding.
Yeah maybe they protect them to much, but god, get in there position, having 500 pound people with full pads hitting ur ass when u dont have much pads on. It doesnt feel good.

Let's put it this way. It was helmet to helmet. And u can even hear a little bit of a crack when he hit Rodgers. (I didn't see so I'm assuming it's rodgers, don't hate) And he layed him out. He saw the ball was being thrown and a good defensive player (Which Jared Allen is) would know that he was too far away from him to stop or disrupt the throw. It was way after the throw and usually u go and touch him, or bring him down lightly. That didn't quite happen this time
