If they get involved, things will only escalate, and ultimately there will be no winner if there is a war. Worst of all, if you think about it, is that the two emerging powers would both find themselves turning to Europe and the USA to buy weapons and resources, so the ultimate winner will be chosen by NATO (read... the USA).

In 60 plus years of living in the states, I have seen and even experienced some of those things you very rightly point out...Two powerful countries. plodding along, sometimes clumsily, sometimes not...The difference...the USA has always aired it's dirty linen IN PUBLIC, for all to see...Can you say the same about the peoples republic...?

@deetjay1 No they dont air the dirty laundry, they either lie about the reasons, redirect the anger or only own up when a whistle blower brings it to light. Often the use of misinformation, media and censorship is a popular tactic used by both countries. Im glad you can see the problems within your own backyard and I should say I dont condone China in many areas. I think the major difference is only that the US will hide behind, "The greater good" claim while China just wont give an answer.

Geographically India is virtually cut off from Mid-East and Central Asia thus depriving it of huge economic benefits. India's historical and natural trade routes in the north are all blocked since 1947 which indeed is India's greatest hurdle towards anything close to a global power.
