I will go with the Canon C300 basically because of the CF cards. For the Scarlet,what configuration do I need to read their memory cards? Would I have to buy a reader for the Scarlet memory card or what? I don't trust all the upsale of what Scarlet is offering. Right now if I had $18,000,I could shoot a film with the C300 right out the box because I already have EF Canon lenses and some CF cards laying around the house too.

It's amazing, and the continual improvement of everything around me is fast enough to keep my nerd-brain happy.

The footage from this thing looks amazing. I suppose we'll have to wait until heavy, exhaustive tests of both cameras (C300 and Scarlet) in the field has been done by many crews.

I've seen this short film...when the actor is shooting the murder scene he is in the shade and at the end they show him and there's a sun reflection from the lens which is impossible since he was in the shade :)

I was waiting for the Red Scarlet way before Canon even released the 5d mark ii and its now 2011. This camera is scheduled to be released in 2012 and this in my opinion will definitely give the Red Epic a run for its money. Not to mention the lenses Canon is releasing alongside with the C300. This is indeed a game changer.

This guy is a joke, all of his work is extremely mediocre and average. The film he shoot using the c300 is a bad version of a terrible tv movie. Canon please show some support to actually talented People such as philip bloom.

@particlelight It is true I did look at the scarlet, however I wouldn't be surprised if they anounce a better camera soon or drop the price. They definatly have the resources to do so. Im still waiting to see if the 5d ii replacement is the golden goose every one is waiting for.
