  • @ollie999101 That is so sweet of you, I am sure I will find some :)

  • btw..michaels carryies shrinky dink now too... saw it yesterday

  • great idea.. i was doing something similar using holtz gear punch on a black shrinky dink and then using utee in my melting pot. it worked ok, but my sprockets looked too new.. this idea is much better,

  • @KeggysUtube Thanks :) I have never seen black shrinky dink.....I did see it at Michael's. the prices have sure gone up since I bought it ;)

  • Wow! Does the plastic melt or something? Its so amazing! Awesome! Thanks for the tutorial! :)

  • @TheCHiZziES It is a special plastic that shrinks when brought to a certain temperature. It is either called Shrink Plastic or Shrinky Dinks.

  • That is soooo cool! I totally remember "Shrinky Dinks"!! I loved those things! I didn't know they still made that stuff, but I'm going to look for it now. Thanks for the tutorial!

  • @Jypsie415 It is so cool watching it shrink ;)

    Thanks for commenting.

  • Hobby Lobby carries the shrink plastic in the crafting section.

  • @mothrnatr1 Thanks. I don't have a Hobby Lobby here, but my Michael's carries it. Funny when my kids were younger and we played with this, it wan't as crazy in price as it is now.

  • This is really cool! Thanks for sharing an awesome tutorial.

  • @shoshiplatypus Thank you so much for commenting :)

  • Hi, I read all your comments, I think!!!

How did you cut the embellishments, I used the mask that looks like the sun and the one that looks like a gear wheel and I even try to use the exacto knife and was a complete disaster.... can you, please, let me know how you did it? Finally I had to use my fine point scissor but as I said before it cam out very ugly!!!

  • @chulisnaquis65 Hi and thanks for commenting.

I just used my scissors to cut the plastic. Once it shrinks you don't notice the imperfections. Try to shrink it, it may not be as bad as you think it is :)

  • @TracysTreasures24 By the way Thanks for sharing!!! I do not need to say I love them, because I'm doing them :o)... the one I have is the opaque one... maybe that's why is harder to cut... have you used the opaque one? Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prompt answer.... I love the charms!!!

  • @chulisnaquis65 Thanks...its always nice to hear "I love them", teehee. I have used the opaque. Did you shrink it down? Did it look better to you once you shrunk it?

  • @TracysTreasures24 It came out nice... what I did with the "steering wheel" ... I punched a very small hole inside, where I had to cut and use the fine tip scissors... I thought it was going to be easier with the craft knife but no.

    Again, thanks!

  • this was fantastic - I have been wanting to make gear charms for ages and I have been trying to think of way to do them. I thought that I might have to press the chipboard gears into Crazy clay and let it dry overnight so that it leaves a dried embossed negative and then pour paperclay into the recessed negative. YOUR METHOD THOUGH IS SO SO SO SO MUCH EASIER. What a clever idea - and the best part is that I have shrink-film on hand - so much easier! THANKS!

  • @candipill I am all for the easy way, teehee. So happy you can use this.

  • That is soooo neat!!!! What a clever idea! I'm going to give this a try!!! TFS ;-)

  • @Luvleescrappin Thank you for watching and commenting. So glad your going to try this :)

  • Have you tried making these without the embossing powder and then alchohal inked them?

  • @mickmacranch I don't think so. But I am sure it will work as the alcohol ink goes on everything :)

  • Great tutorial! These look great when finished. Thanks for showing us how you made those beautiful charms.

    Leslie

  • @messageinafold Thank you Leslie. I was impressed with how they turned out as well.

  • Fantastic fun Tracy! Thanks! :o)

  • @nickelnook1 These are so fun to watch shrink :)

  • thats kool i was wondering what I was gonna do with these gear masks I have thanks a lot for the idea

  • @lindababyus Glad I could show you what you could do with them. This is the only project that I have used them on ;0

  • Thanks so much for showing how you made the gears!! I love the show when you used the embossing gun to shrink it!! It was very interesting! I looked up in google "gear clip art" and there is quite a bit - so I can print it out large and copy it. I even have some shrink film I bought for another project!! Thanks again - you are so creative and I love your art.

  • @gaylefis Thank you so much. I didn't think of the clip art until I mentioned it in the video. LOL

  • Wow that is so cool

Thank you for sharing , love : ) Patricia

  • @tubeyoumaster1 Thank you so much for commenting Patricia

  • Oops I meant realistic ;)

  • Your such a sweetie to show us this. I have this shrink plastic for years but never id because I though it was too much work now I know I can use the heat gun! I love your charms super neat and they look so realized! ((NJ hugs)) Christine

  • @serenityinhim Thank you Christine. I used to use a toaster oven, but this is so much faster and I don't have a toaster oven, I used my SIL's.

  • Thanks for sharing this great idea. Amazing with the heat tool instead of the oven.

  • @iluvtojournal Thank you, I used to use a toaster oven, I don't have one(Used my SIL), so I never used it. This is so much easier.

  • Thanks. I have also used my cricut to cut the shrink-it plastic too.

  • @Psychomoms Thanks for the tip :)

  • Way cool idea! Love how the embossing powder pooled up. I know I have some somewhere! Lol. Tfs, Patti

  • Thanks for the tutorial :-) love it. Never try embossing powder on shrink plastic, great idea !!

  • @LovetoScrap8 This was my first time trying the embossing powder on it as well. I like the effects.

  • Thanks Tracy for another great video! Love those gears...I will have to hunt around my local craft shops to see if there shrink plastic in Australia, I'm sure there is..I haven't seen any as yet but will keep looking :)

  • that is so cool! I like the science chemistry effect when you're heating the embossing powder and shrinky dink!!! Look like a science project at daycare!

  • @cherylthelene Where the heck is your daycare, LOL. Sound fun.

  • @TracysTreasures24: I am not offically working @ daycare yet. i'm still a practicum student, but in childcare field we have to learn many different science activities to teach children.

  • I have Shrinky DInk. My kids use to have a Shrinky dink machine. Now that would come on handy with these. Thanks for sharing such a good way to think outside the box. I love the multi-colors of embossing powder on it too.

  • @lavendarrose29 I have never heard of a shrinky dink machine. I was a poor kid, never got the cool toys, lol.

    Thanks for watching and commenting

  • @TracysTreasures24 Mine didnt either. It came to them secondhand from the Pastors kids.

  • I love shrinky dink! Never thought to emboss it though! Very, very cool!

  • @mccplg Thank you. It is always fun to try something different

  • TFS, Tracey. Fun idea and I have always loved working with Shrinky Dink.

    Sherry

  • @CricketsDaughter1 Thank you Sherry.

  • Hey Tracy...cool tutorial. I decided to check Ebay since I don't have a Micheals, but didn't really find anything. I Googled it and found a website for Shrinky Dinks. Can't post the link here so I'm going to message it to you and then maybe you can add it to your description for anyone who wants to buy some. There's also a video telling about how Shrinky Dinks was invented.

  • @deettle Oh cool, I will check out you message. Kind of neat to learn how things were invented or came about. Thanks so much, that is really sweet of you.

  • very cool technique.

  • @sular99 Thank you.
