After all if a citizen is legally bound by how much he can "give" to political parties then the corporations need to be ruled with the same law. after all, the corp is now a citizen right?

@osdias "organic" USDA allows up to 200 different types of chemicals and still with the organic label. DONT buy organic. buy from local farmers or grow it yourself and always SEE your food growing. thats far better than "organic" which isnt organic at all usually.

I agree that growing your own is the only way to know what you're really eating. But if unable to do so I still believe Organic is a better option than conventional (even if local), specially if you're trying to avoid genetically modified food.

good point, some of us knew in advance that there were plans to change the certification rules so that organic doesn't necessarily mean it won't allow stupid evil practices. always read the label. in general organic is always better than non-organic, the only exception being if you know the way the food is grown is ok, but it doesn't have an actual stamp from an organic certification body on it.
proper organic means no -icides, no artificial ferts, crop rotation, looking after wildlife, + more..

The studies on animals given GM are showing a high rate of sterility... Monsanto is tightly linked with governments and international interests as is clearly shown by the fact it keeps getting approved by govs yet the citizens don't want it. I bet £100 that sterility rates throughout the world go up

Monsanto and others like them can get away with this because their lawyers have tricked the courts into treating them as people--with the same constitutional rights as actual flesh and blood citizens. They can use the courts to strike down most legislation as a "violation of their constitutional rights." Plus they can buy political support through campaign donations and lobbying.
We need a Constitutional Amendment to revoke "Corporate Personhood" and ban corporations from politics.

In 2010 Clarence Thomas, ruled in favor of an important Monsanto case the went before the U.S. Supreme Court. Monsanto employees were allowed to have high positions in the FDA when important Monsanto issues were being decided by the FDA. Once the damage was done the FDA employees resigned and went back to work for Monsanto, under the Bush Administration.

After all if a citizen is legally bound by how much he can "give" to political parties then the corporations need to be ruled with the same law. after all, the corp is now a citizen right?

The argument they use (and the courts fell for) is that spending money in elections counts as "free speech"--and as citizens they are protected under the First Amendment.

@osdias "organic" USDA allows up to 200 different types of chemicals and still with the organic label. DONT buy organic. buy from local farmers or grow it yourself and always SEE your food growing. thats far better than "organic" which isnt organic at all usually.

@bradford71us didn't know that. I live in the UK and here the Organic standard run by the Soil Association is way tighter. I agree that growing your own is the only way to know what you're really eating. But if unable to do so I still believe Organic is a better option than conventional (even if local), specially if you're trying to avoid genetically modified food.

good point, some of us knew in advance that there were plans to change the certification rules so that organic doesn't necessarily mean it won't allow stupid evil practices. always read the label. in general organic is always better than non-organic, the only exception being if you know the way the food is grown is ok, but it doesn't have an actual stamp from an organic certification body on it.
proper organic means no -icides, no artificial ferts, crop rotation, looking after wildlife, + more..

Hey "chrisinsocalif" You're confusing plant graphing with genetic modification, graphing two different plants to get a better or different variety ifs perfectly fine, that has been going on for hundreds of years, but what monsanto is doing is completly different. Monsanto is combing plant genes with animal, insect, fish and other horrible combination, this has never been done before, this creates a completely foreign invader in our bodies, and triggers our immune system to react violently.
