Tch tch, four deaths Peter... tch tch

  • love it. a place without a postcard, countdown, bird noises, species deceases, red sail in the sunset ... the golden age of midnight oil! (earth and sun and moon is mint as well)

  • I walked past a primary school today and all the kids were showing their respect for Peter Garrett by wearing hats as worn in this video.

    This song is timeless.

    all the rock songs

  • The great and magnificent Midnight Oil!

Rock will remember them as Legends; the world will remember them as Australians! And they will never be forgotten!

  • Greeat use of the cow bell at the start

  • This is the song that introduced me to Midnight Oil. No turning back after that.

  • aussie legends at the peak of their powers!

  • From 3:08 look how many drum sticks go flyng, when Rob Hirst hits the skins.

  • Love this song!

  • as allwaws the early years of 80 bands are the best.

  • COOL

  • I remember they performed this song on Thicke of the Night. The set for this song was all crumpled up newspapers everywhere. He picked up a piece like he was reading it as he danced around, then he pulled out a lighter and set it on fire and dropped it. The show was running late so they couldn't stop. They kept a close up on him while all the show staff ran in with extinguishers.

  • fucking legend, I was in aussie this week and had to play some oils on the mp3 as it seemed appropriate, Nick Launay produced a fair wack of the oils stuff around this time I think which is probably why the Armoury Show sound a little similar with some of the musical arrangements. Thanks for posting this

  • A great song from the Oils !!!! One of my favourites...

  • Thank you - Classic Oils!

  • Great sound, great msg too

  • This totally Rocked at the MCG Benefit Concert...

  • Finally, Peter Garrett has the opportunity to practice what he preached/sang about.

Our environmental future is in a bit of his hands.

  • One of the Best. Too bad he doesn't do a concert

  • Bushfire Concert Appeal at SCG and MCG they will be playing in mid march..

  • Messengers.

    Genius.

  • Timeless!

  • remember seeing pete @ our local servo back in 84 Mt Colah just north of sydney...we as punk ass 13 year olds yelled out ''Hey Pete''..gotta love it....

  • This is one of my favourite Oils tunes. Great Aussie sound. LOVE IT !!

  • Thank you for posting!

One of the few that makes us feel better 'bout been teen in the 80s

  • Brilliant!

  • the rich get richer the poor get the picture the bombs never hit ya when ya down so low . . . how true are those words . . .

  • that still sounds so fresh, doesn't sound like 1983 !

  • Yeap, musically and lyrically.

  • i think they call that "timeless" lol! Either that or "classic","perfection", or "hell, what an awesome song" also work

  • the best band to come out of oz

  • Ladys and gentlemen, the member for Kingsford Smith and Minister for the Environment. lol

    Alot changes in 25 years.

  • another 20th century classic, loaned this cd (10,9,8,7,6,.....1) to a mate years ago and never got it back, give it back ya bastard!!!

  • Listen to the lyrics.

In 1983, they were living in today.

  • Most political issues are not very new, the only thing thats new today is an increased awareness of *some* issues.

  • Midnight Oil STILL rocks ...one of the best bands i ever saw live too...love them!

  • That's great how Rob Hirst trows away his sticks at 3:09. Best band ever!

  • not very environmentally friendly though. Ahh I`m sure he picked them up again. Probably still using them in fact. If Garrett kept that hat he`d be in Kirribilli House right now.

  • I remember this to a Swiss Ski video in 1985, great song! I understand the lyrics now...

  • Peter Garrett is a spiffy dresser.

  • not to mention spiffy dancer

  • And it's a spiffy song too. Very.

  • Love this band. they were awesome.

  • Midnight Oil rocked, that's all there is to it!

  • ditto

  • Brilliant - Thanks Pete (Garrett), Thanks Rob (Hurst) for some of the best rock & roll ever made!...and thanks NZOZ for the post!

  • Flipppin sweeet

  • More like 'backflippin' sweet :)

  • Kikken!

  • My fave rock song of all time.
