hmmm last place, that's not good :P stage presence seems to be hard for a lot of bands. A few days ago i noticed that again at a bandnight in my neighbourhood. I think you must try to talk with the audience and look them in the eye, instead of watching to the stage or ceiling :P when you notice you have a connection with the audience, the stage presence will come easier :) (at least, that's what i think)
Heh.. yeah. The singer, guitarist, and bassist in my band were pretty much... not moving at all. And it's very hard for the drummer to make up for everyone else's lack of stage presence =P
Especially considering that was back when I was still pretty shy about being on stage and everything.
lol yeah i think that's the most difficult thing for a band, but the problem with our band is we put more energy in stage presence than in music quality :P we make a lot of mistakes during a performance
Much more forgivable than playing awesomely and having the stage presence of a wooden board =P
Well, the more shows you do, the easier it will get to rock out without making as many mistakes.
I think it's just hard to go from a normal practice where you don't really have to move around to getting on stage and jumping all over the place. I also think it gets easier as time goes on =)
You know what works for our band: run around and act like you're crazy just before your performance. You'll get hyperactive and happy and then the performance will have more energy too, it really works :P just make yourself totally energetic :D
*sigh* unfortunately, we've pretty much hit that mark =P The other acts mostly had members from our band in them, and.. well.. I dunno. Like I said, we're the only band, and everyone else just does singalongs and stuff.
However, one kid did standup comedy... that one was pretty awesome.
thx :) that's the way we like to play, because when we watch other bands, sometimes they play very good, but it's boring to look at, but if a band plays bad but is fun to look at, we think that's better :) although we still made a lot of mistakes here >.>
uhm we got the band about 2,5 years, but we started playing our instruments at that time as well, so we're playing serious for about 1 year i think :)

Gaahd, I wish my school had talent shows like THAT!
But no, they have MY band, and then a bunch of people singing to the CD player.
