Brilliant photos! I walked the same route from Jiri - brings back fantastic memories. Would highly recommend the trek to anyone - I went totally on my own, and met so many generous nepalese people along the way. It is definitely safer to go with someone (i was 23 and a bit foolhardy!) but you dont need a guide/bag carrier... just do it!

You really don´t need to trek with any company or have a guide - just follow the 1000+ other trekkers. Just buy a map and a ticket to Lukla if you want to skip the otherwise wonderful 7 days walk from Jiri.

Stop dreaming, just do it ;)

Was their in Marz 2003 - Little tip: Gokyo Ri and monastery Thamel are also very nice, especial the area around monastery Thamel with some very interesting, but lonely passes (to Tibet and another back to lowland of Nepal)
