  • I feel that the shaky swinging camera goes nicely with the song.

  • Blogoteque tries to make camerawork an artform in itself, not just a visual recording of the artist. I think this cameraman is trying to represent the unsettled, anxious feel of Annie's music with the jerky motion... maybe not the most pleasant thing to look at, but I don't hate it.

  • People bitching about the camera operator need to remember that before MTV, music was about sound. It still should be. Great performance of a great song by a great artist. The camera work is irrelevant.

  • La Blogotheque needs to go back to production school...a brilliant artist's performance almost sidelined by an idiot with a camera who calls himself a producer.

  • im in love :)

  • this cameraman is distracting me from the music.

  • i wish i could be that guitar!

  • Jesus, she's beaudiful

  • if i found out i've walked past her in the street and not noticed i'd fucking die

  • @bleugh07 live in paris? if so i bet youll look at everyone performing in the streets now! lol

  • I know that some of you think the actual camera work is poor, but personally, I think it's pretty cool and artistic. I like it very much.

  • @BrainChizz : No! - It fits perfectly. I'd call that congénial.

  • @BrainChizz some people just dont art

  • When I watched this video for the first time, I hoped some day I could be as good as a guitar player as her and/or be able to play the song, thinking it would take me years of practice. Only five months later, I can now play it on the guitar. :D

  • (watches) i need to learn the guitar!

  • yeah the video is terrible, the woman is absolutely amazing

  • She's like a goddess of music, composed purely of musical talent.

  • the guitar work oh my god.

  • regina spektor on the guitar

  • @josielemmon so much better

  • Music: good. Video: horrific

  • wow

  • Such beauty in a song. A brilliant guitar player. I am awestruck.

  • Genius on a three inch wide iron bar.

  • Beautiful song. The camerawork makes me want to throw up for several reasons...

  • anyway i can purchase this version?

  • this just shows how people don't see talent unless the media grabs them by the ear and tells us it's good :P I would have stopped and sat there :)

  • im glad i clicked on this video :) im glad i heard her raw first as well :P

  • Im Sorry But That Was Fucking Amazing :O

  • i would be sitting next to her smokin the fattest blunt ever...ppl need to learn how to forget about the many problems in their lives, sit back and enjoy the beauty around us...it makes me sad that not one person stops too listen...

  • So much better than any of her over produced studio nonsense

  • A shame she doesn't record an accoustic version with a decent quality sound.

  • true talent. Not only her singing is great, but her guitar playing is majestic.

  • She's Jack Skellington's girlfriend...

  • She looks like a Tim Burton character :)

  • Brilliant song!! If you like this check out the song "Liquids playing misty games LIVE" by danish act INOUWEE

  • Holy shit how did i stumble upon real music? i meant to watch Justin Biebers new Video!

  • I will personally find the ten people who disliked this video and burn their Paris

  • I would flip my shit if I saw Annie Clark playing on the street. Don't these guys ever film videos in Barcelona?

  • this girl shreds.

  • this is beatiful as the other live performances i've just seen from her...

    hahaha godsmack ...hhh funny

  • the 10 people who disliked this video must be douchebags. go listen to godsmack instead.

  • the cameraman needs to chill...

  • @GorgonDrageil The cameraman needs to go to the washroom.

  • holly shit shes good

  • What does this song mean?

  • I would be so stoked if I saw St. Vincent playing on the street! What's wrong with these people lol

  • This song makes me cry, it's that good.

  • Astonishing!!! Love it!!! In this world, there isn't many people that could sing like her!!!

  • Could you send me the audio of this? I can't find this version to download anywhere. I would appreciate it so much... it's really inspirational.

  • I like the sqeaks, makes it sound raw and genuine.

  • you all bitch about that squeakiness, try to play what she is playing as fast as she is without the slides its damn near impossible

  • I'd totally go lez for her ;)

  • Love this outdoor street performance. This is so good.

  • I'm going to marry her

  • La Blogotheque videos really do scare me. Wonder performances on the streets, and rarely do people stop to listen. How jaded are we?

  • @ImTestingSleeping it's possible that the videographer doesn't film the onlookers.

  • @ImTestingSleeping "How jaded are we?"

I don't know about jaded. maybe distracted, busy, obsessed, fixated, or ignorant

  • @tacojuan "jaded" neatly sums up all the other terms you rattled off.

  • @ImTestingSleeping I don't think it's being jaded, but being afraid of being different. Moving away from the flock. It's very difficult to do, especially with what society imposes on us.

  • @ImTestingSleeping Maybe they don't want to be filmed.

  • @ImTestingSleeping I promise you I was hoping for a Blogotheque performance when I was in Paris. I watched so much Blogotheque just to pump myself up for my trip.

  • @ImTestingSleeping If she was performing on the street i would stop and listen, but the fact is most street performers aren't particularly note worthy

  • @ImTestingSleeping But if you stopped at every one, you would get nowhere. Not all street performers hold permits as they do in London. For every talented performer there are ten poor performers in most places.

  • @ImTestingSleeping some people don't like to be filmed and are in a rush.

  • @KoRnn69 exactly! My reaction would be something like: "ohh it sounds pretty I think I'll go closer to take a look- OH GOD A CAMERA GO AWAY" *covers face with hands and runs away*

  • @ImTestingSleeping It's only because a) French people have no idea what she's saying b) they have no idea who she is, and they just perceive her as just another guitar player looking for spare change

  • @ImTestingSleeping your comment reminds me of "stop and hear the music" the video of Joshua Bell who normally gets paid over 1,000 dollars a minute to play violin, setting up in the DC metro and playing some of the world's most difficult and beautiful songs on his 300 year old Stradivarius for an experiment set up and filmed by the washington post. not surprisingly nobody really noticed or cared. it's worth watching and reading the article though.

  • @ImTestingSleeping May be is the reason the videos are recorded in Paris.

  • @ImTestingSleeping It's Paris you know! Pariiis!

  • @ImTestingSleeping Yes I agree. I have noticed more americans noticed. In france everyone seems to be distant and disrespondent

  • a mournful march rejoicing revolting. she could sing the reality of 'paris' into our hearts.

  • Why must we constitute music to superficial characteristics, especially when it comes to the female gender. Every possible music video on youtube, including covers by girls, has a myriad of comments reflecting their beauty, sexuality, or marital status. And why must beauty be a double standard. Grizzly Bear endeavors to look as sweating and repulse for concerts but they're given no criticism. St. Vincent's work is amazing. That's all that should matter.

  • @remember132 No one said her work doesn't matter. I'm sure most of the people that typed in St. Vincent in the search engine didn't do it just to see her for her looks. They searched to listen to some good music. As far as people admiring her looks, they're doing just that.

  • Her voice is so beautiful but her guitar playing isn't that great. It's too squeaky.

  • @eyeslulublue

Too squeaky? Maybe it's SUPPOSED to have that edge. that amazing amazing uncut edge (:

  • @LickingInTheRain i agree. it sounds wonderful. =)

  • If Jack Sparrow were a woman and could sing, I think this would be her(him?).

  • I love that line, ofcourse I love the whole song but it rlly sticks out "I am sorry to report dear Paris is burning after all"

  • wonderfully rough. shes like the beautifullest alien with a soul from another world.

  • Fuck Paris. What about Nelson in Lancashire?

  • She's so hot.

  • This reminds me of Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter.

    zomg, I love this song.

So strange, but in a good way.

  • I'm addicted to this song.

  • Not a patch on other lesser known female artists like Soap&Skin and Fever ray imo. Good that she is doing her own thing though, not selling out like many female artists.

  • Ein faszinierendes Lied. Allerdings versteht der Kameramann wohl wenig von seinem Handwerk! Und wo ist das Aufnahmemikrofon?

  • I much prefer this version to the studio... I feel like some of her music is over produced... She is so great raw...

  • @honestlyyesno thats what he said

  • @HiranEdge Hahaha.

  • @honestlyyesno

You sound like you're talking about black metal.

  • Can't watch it the whole way through because of the cameraman :(

  • @ksdmd14 lolwut XD

  • I'm straight, but I'm not afriad to say I would turn for Annie Clark.

  • @kc42291

Agreed, I'm going to stay straight for her

  • @kc42291 LESBIAN!

  • @Ali74 is that a negative or positive?

  • My favourite song of St. Vincent - my favourite woman

  • @ksdmd14 fuck you

  • yep coulda done with holding the camera a little more still. looks like the guys drunk :)

  • I'm madly in love with this performance.

  • @ksdmd14 an excellent example of trolling

  • Zzzzzzzzzzzz This dirge should be used in Police interrogations. The mearest threat to play it on loop would get the would be convict to confess in no time.

  • @Ali74

how can you not like this

  • @grimchain I have taste perhaps?

  • @Ali74

well what kinda music do you listen too. becuase i wouldnt expect a taylor swift fan to like this kinda music anyway

  • @grimchain Taylor Swift vids are great, so long as the volume is on mute.

I'm only a fan of music. This St.Vincent, chatting along to a few chords...music it aint

  • @Ali74

Chatting along to a few chords... Im sorry what where you expecting a solo, maybe some drummer in the middle of the street?

  • @Ali74 You like Radical Face and not St. Vincent?

Hm. Have you not tried looking at her actual videos, because imo this isn't a patch on even some of her other live shows.

  • @Ali74 haha, sorry, no.

  • Comment removed

  • @brendanbebop Sorry no what? if you mean sorry no music here then yeah, its quite sad.

    God the noise is grim

  • I wish i could find the version that was on so you think you can dance. But this is awesome too. >w<

  • Just watch her fingers move. ....Are you kidding me right now?

  • @ksdmd14 you are cleary a no-mind.

  • My favourite song =]

    I love her artistry.

  • Hey, you guys! Listen up. I'm not sure if you've heard...

    But St. Vincent?

    She's magical.

    As you were.....

  • @peachtable966 what?

  • @jerkyjaze

I wish I could find it somewhere.

    :C

I'm sure it's on Hulu but I don't want to watch a whole episode just to see the dance

  • who saw the dance routine on So You Think You Can Dance to this song?

    it was amazing

  • @InsanePuppy11010 i did thats how i found this song =]] it was amazing

  • @OMgITzmEaMaNA

    Me too!

I thought it was a totally amazing song, then I had to find it

  • @InsanePuppy11010 lol me too!!!

  • "we are dancing a black waltz"

    i like that

  • i love this song =]] and she is really pretty and she is an AWESAOME SINGERRR!!!

  • @ksdmd14 sorry that its not lady gaga.

  • Bellatrix

  • I'm soo glad that sytycd showcased this st. vincent song.

the contestants danced it soo well

  • @karoljnilla895

i agree... that was the first time i was turned on to st. vincent

  • Love this!

  • this song is so fun to play on acoustic its ridiculous

and the best part is that it isn't too hard to learn either

  • Anyone know where I can get this version of the song?! It's beautiful.

  • I've decided to learn acoustic guitar, specifically to play this song.

  • My favorite version of this song@!

  • all over england red rags in a stain................what about england is that burning, great!

  • something about this is so romantic!

  • i never get tired of her

  • this woman is brilliant.

  • this song got stuck in my head for a whole week its so good

  • this is GREAT

  • i found nothing wrong w/ the camerawork.

  • this cameraman draws so much attention to himself

  • @thprfssnl1 Yeah, that fucker needs to stand still

  • sticks and stones have made us smarter,

it's words that cut us under our armor

  • she look's like the woman out of harry potter lmao.

  • i dont see how shes soooo pretty /: but her musics pretty good :3

  • I love how she composes for guitar.

  • i saw her on pbs when they did a special on indie music

i was suprised to find her as well as andrew bird

i loved her music ever since i heard it

  • hello! pls check out my cover of this song!

  • i love st. vincent, but i agree her work is just short of genius. still, i think she's better than almost every other of her indie pop contemporaries, equalled by only a few.. namely feist, my brightest diamond, sufjan..though not a fan of all of them.. st. vincents lyrics are intelligent, the melodies catchy, and her compositions delightfully perplex! she's a beast on the guitar, too! :)

i think this is a pretty lackluster rendition of paris is burning. check out the DUMBO sessions version!

  • i think she just waved.. im not sure, the lighting is weird.

  • yeah she definitely waved

  • And you gotta love her style.

  • SHES SO PRETTY! Its ridiculous.

  • @ketriiii I get so jealous

  • great talent. the video kind of made me motion sick from it moving so much. :P

  • love it. but i think maura davis from the band denali has a better voice.

  • She is so insanely talented, it makes my head and heart ache. Thank you for your art, Annie.

  • i still cant get over how she can sing and play that at the same time, its a gift

  • Wow she's beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • ive come to the conclusion that she is the one of the most talented(and amazingly beautiful in and out) musicians ive ever had the pleasure of discovering : ) ..................if we actually lived in a world that made sense, her music would be played over and over on the radio....but one could only hope. but then again, i rather just support her music and buy all her albums and just replay it over and over again in my car : )

  • @jakes2nice

You see if she did get on the radio. She would eventually turn into a crappy radio pop singer singing song that are catchy but still crap.

  • @grimchain

    like i said...

if the world made sense ( no crappy pop music )...

besides annie clark would never sell out for radio play...

    shes too good for that...

  • @jakes2nice

Eventually she would be force to sell out. Im sorry but that how the world works.

  • @ybyainc every pop song ever written has definition and coherence, thats why i dig this lady, she's different

  • I AGREE, she is "unique", very creative and artistic, But I think her talents combine in a way that is a bit short of genius. The problem i have is that she seems to set her self up, or sell herself as an eccentric /artistic genius and it seems like you might be buying it. My PERSONAL feeling is that she not as deep as she is weird. It smells like genius, smells deep, but when i put it in my mouth and chew on it.. something is missing. Talented, trippy, really good.. but not quite there yet.

  • I think I agree... it's refreshing to see an honest comment on youtube! It's like she's playing all the moves right, but it's not working for whatever reason.

  • @ybyainc I'm guna have to agree with you there. Maybe she'll mature like wine...or like cheese, who knows.

  • damn

HOW ON EARTH CAN SHE DO THAT!!!
