Well I have helped promote a very conservative man for governor in my state and questioned the democratic governor to the point where he looked like a moron. I know its not much but its a start. If your party had a good candidate that ran for president and was obviously more conservative than that of the GOP I would probably vote for them. Until then I will support the GOP.

If the intent is to grant the right to keep and bear arms to EVERYONE, why mention "well regulated militia"? Why not just: The right of the people to keep and bear arm shall not be infringed? Without mention of "well regulated militia" the context cannot be confused. Currently, the 2nd Amendment could be seen as meaning "the people" whom are referred to are those "people" whom are a part of a "well regulated militia" Seems to me that the amendment needs to be amended to omit the term.

A case like this happened last year in Salt Lake City, UT. A deranged man killed 6, and would have killed many more before the police arrived. But he was killed by a *Off-Duty* police officer, with a concealed weapon. The police are there to protect us, but can we afford to wait helplessly for them to come to our aid? The people must be able to defend themselves, this will increase security and safety everywhere.
My answer to that is that in a society in which weapons can circulate easily and legally, a deranged person can get one and make a mess. Like you said it happened in Salt Lake City. In my opinion, in my ideal society, objects that are meant to threaten and/or hurt like weapons (and unlike, for example, cars, which are meant for transportation) should be made available only to "authorities". Same as nerve gas can't be bought at the corner shop, so it should be for weapons.
A good number of mass killings using guns took place in gun free zones; such as school and university shootings. And the 20th century has shown that the authorities are more than capable of getting up to a considerable amount of mischief.

Well I have helped promote a very conservative man for governor in my state and questioned the democratic governor to the point where he looked like a moron. I know its not much but its a start. The best thing we can do is be aware. Let me say that I support them because they are the opposite of the liberals. If your party had a good candidate that ran for president and was obviously more conservative than that of the GOP I would probably vote for them. Until then I will support the GOP.

If the intent is to grant the right to keep and bear arms to EVERYONE, why mention "well regulated militia"? Why not just: The right of the people to keep and bear arm shall not be infringed? Without mention of "well regulated militia" the context cannot be confused. Currently, the 2nd Amendment could be seen as meaning "the people" whom are referred to are those "people" whom are a part of a "well regulated militia" Seems to me that the amendment needs to be amended to omit the term.

A case like this happened last year in Salt Lake City, UT. A deranged man killed 6, and would have killed many more before the police arrived. But he was killed by a *Off-Duty* police officer, with a concealed weapon. The police are there to protect us, but can we afford to wait helplessly for them to come to our aid? The people must be able to defend themselves, this will increase security and safety everywhere.

My answer to that is that in a society in which weapons can circulate easily and legally, a deranged person can get one and make a mess. Like you said it happened in Salt Lake City. In my opinion, in my ideal society, objects that are meant to threaten and/or hurt like weapons (and unlike, for example, cars, which are meant for transportation) should be made available only to "authorities". Same as nerve gas can't be bought at the corner shop, so it should be for weapons.

Well, perhaps those who did the mass killings in gun-free zones got their firearms (legally) at the local gun shop just out of the gun-free zone... Or they bought the guns illegally from someone else who had legally bought them (once again, just outside of the gun-free zone)... I am very glad that few weapons circulate where I live. I would like to use an example: A murderer enters a mall, looking to kill as many people as possible before he dies. He fires, killing or wounding a civilian. Now, which is more effective, a person calling the police, who arrive 20 minutes later to find this murderer has already killed dozens? Or many armed civilians immediately incapacitating the murderer through use of their own weapons?
