Max your VIT and SPR if you can. Wizard Bracelet absorbs fire, and you don't need max SPR if you have that on. Twisted Headband works WONDERS. Put on Genji Glove. Adaman Bangle. Costly Punch is slow and tedious. Instead use some SP Turbos with Quake and spam Quake nice and fast and see how quickly everything dies.

Keep fusing your key materia over and over with status wards and eventually it will be +100 / +999% of whatever stat you had on whatever materia. Fuse max materia with a Libra and ONE of the following items to change the stat.

Quake (+999% HP) + Libra + Hero Drink = Quake (+100 ATK)

Quake (+999% HP) + Libra + Adamantite = Quake (+100 VIT)

Quake (+999% HP) + Libra + Gysahl Greens = Quake (+100 LCK)

Quake (+999% HP) + Libra + Mythril = Quake (+100 SPR)

etc etc etc. and last tip for 9-6-5

Finally, if you're having trouble getting to 9-6-6.. and I'll admit 9-6-5 is the hardest, but 9-6-1 can also be challenging.. then farm gil in mission 9-6-2 or if you're not in the 9-x-x sets yet, farm gil in 8-3-6 with a Mog's Amulet and Wizard Bracelet equipped, keep stealing the Crystal Bracelet from Boundfats and escaping. They sell for 7,500 each. Keep buying fresh Status Wards from Secret Wutai Shop (Beat 4-2-6, it's easy).

To make a non-HP materia (example Stop Blade +60 ATK) into an HP materia... fuse it with a Libra (1,000 gil each at Research Dept. QMC shop after SOLDIER 1st Clast promotion) + 1 Fat Chocobo Feather (Just 1!!) and it equals Stop Blade (+610% HP) Or Death blade (+610% HP) if the Stop Blade was mastered due to fusion rules.

Therefore unless you plan on making 99 whole materia at +999% HP (Which is stupid), then you only need as many Fat Chocobo Feathers as you want +999% Materia.

I feel the need to post here. And don't worry, it's not about your pronunciation. At 2:08 you don't need to hug the left wall (that's like 10 extra seconds on your Fat Chocobo Feather farming method per trip!).

Next, Costly Punch does 0 damage once your current HP is 1.11 X your max HP exactly, or more.

Next, any materia (+ any% HP) fused with any materia + 99 Phoenix Downs = Materia (+999% HP). Phoenix down only raises the % if the materia with the higher stat is HP.

Sometimes its hard to get to minerva with low health. if you haven't gotten to her yet, and you are stuck on mission 9-6-5(like i was) you will need a lot of health which you can't get easily without fat chocobo feathers and elixers

What part of the story are you at? If you are early in the story, then you should continue through it. Try equipping different combinations of materia and accessories. Hp+ accessories are helpful, so are any hp break and damage break accessories. If you have the item "ribbon" i suggest you equip it as a lot of problems occur when you get negative status effects. Also, guard often. It cuts damage by a lot.

yo man umm when you have 48800 hp lesser than the maximun which is 99999 and you break 48800 the makes it 49500 or something costly punch does zero damage becaause it uses 1/128 of your hp so if you breaked your hp limit it wont work it does that on evewrymission if your hp is breaked so just maximize your costly punch by doing this and when our done you should have 999 hp so it should work if you have divines slayer or something

A lot of people have already commented on this. I understand that I made a mistake. It isn't a glitch, you are correct. Costly punch doesn't work unless your hp is equal to or below its maximum.

Just keep doing missions. And when in a mission, open all of the chests you find. some chests contain very useful items in the game. Also, dont use elixers often, because you need them to make hp+?% items. (elixers, or fat chocobo feathers). Im not sure which missions specifically, but if you complete sets of missions, the items you gain will be useful.

costly punch does 0 damage when you break your hp limit. so sometimes, you do 0 damage until the monster hits you and your health is either at full or less than 100%.

Costly Punch doesn't do damage if you break your HP gauge. Your game is not glitched. Modulating Phases gives HP and sometimes breaks the HP gauge.

The costly punch glich you talked about isnt really a glich. . . . When you do the DMW reel and get 3 of a kind you break your past your maximum HP. So since your current HP exceeds your max HP it cancels costly punch out so you do 0.

Somehow, later in the mission based game, Every little gain in HP over my Base HP would decrease the effect of Costly Punch, not cancel. So when it read something like 60000 over 40000, I'd be doing 30000 damage instead of 99999 damage. I'm not investigating it, nor do I want to know the details

You are correct, you need at least 100 fat chocobo feathers/elixers to make a 999% item. The problem with mission 6-6-6 is that it must be unlocked in the beginnning of the game, because if you do not, then that whole section of missions won't appear. I've done most missions, and it sitll isnt there.
