Dante is quite the character, I think. He's unstoppable as of 4, he's a complete smartass and he damn well gets the job done, no matter how much of a bitch position he's in when it comes to Lady & Trish. I think he's awesome!

Dante was so cool in this first bit probably because he didnt talk. The smug banter does annoy me at times. I hope Capcom ballance his character out a little more in 5.

Well, smug banter is what he's about. Think of it this way: he's fought countless demons. He's defeated any foe that has stood in his way. He slew the Prince of Darkness. By this game, he's just going through the motions and really has no reason to expect much from his enemies. He has no reason to take them seriously. Personally, I think they did his personality great in this one.

Same. His personality can be seen as a bluff, one of those psychology ideals. Putting on a fake guise as means to hide which he feels inside. He had to kill his brother and the emotion was captured then in DMC1.

Dante's personally is officially (at these times mostly) what he is at 3 and 4 (slightly more mature in 4). I haven't played 1 and 2 but looking at cutscenes he's slightly different there.

Well in the first one he was cocky but he knew when to be cocky and when to take things seriously. And in 2 the very few times he did talk it was just *cringe* (but it was better that the smugness IMO)

Quiet Dante pissed the fans of 1 off and Capcom decided to shove his personality in just the one cocky direction which was fine for when he was a young teenager but in 4 and 1 he is the same age and has a totally different personality. I dont even know who the hell Dante is anymore.

@Heroesrock09 Unfortunetly your right, the overyly cocky Dante has been in 3 and 4 but personally I thought Dante in the Anime was a step in the right direction. He wasn't so over the top and in your face. He was much more of a laid back tough guy a bit more like in 1.

Which made his relationship with Patty so funny lol.
