I like the bit where it seemed the reaction tank "iced up". But that can't be what that was. Does someone who's less rusty than me at warp technology have a theory?
@AeronPeryton I think what happened was the reaction between the matter and antimatter (which was out of control at this point) shattered the inner lining of the chamber. One reason you NEVER START THE CORE UP LIKE A AAA BATTERY CHIEF ENGINEER!!!
lol...I love how warp core engineers can make such a stupid mistake. Even today we have to start up our nuclear reactions slowly or they blow up in our faces. Darn lazy script writers!
@97Gavman the warp core on the enterprise d has the pulses of matter and antimatter going into the reaction chamber in the middle. On voyager, only this reaction chamber is visible, whole the matter and antimatter injectors are only seen when the core is ejected. Voyagers core would still only take 20 mins to warm up, like the enterprise, but it's just the layout that's different because it's a class 9 warp drive, not a class 6 like on the enterprise. They're the same principles, the same cores
@KingHauken the warp core takes 20 minutes to fully turn on so it would only be a small explosion. However, it should theoretically cause a cascade explosion to the antimatter tanks, unless there were safety lockouts :) I'm the 13 year old Trekkie :)
@Ravencroft77 What I don't understand is how in God's name would a "containment field" hold a MATTER-ANTIMATTER EXPLOSION. D's blew it to bits. E's sealed a freaking tear in space. And for the love of everything sacred, the whole purpose of the core is for controlled explosions to go to WARP. This has got to be the god of all containment fields.
man this series was so awesome.

Its immunity from anti matter explosions! How could it possibly be dreaming.

@DarkMalfunction Voyager doesn't have a traditional warp core.. The 14 Year Old Trekie ¬_¬

Would've been a better twist if she actually WERE impervious.

why did she put a containment field around engineering before they were out of the room?

@Ravencroft77 they wanted to contain themselves within the explosive so that death would be quick and painless.

@Ravencroft77 She was only setting it up, probably with the intent to activate it from outside engineering.

for a second when they are leaving engineering, before janeway goes back, you can see that the person playing B'Elanna is pregnant, which she was

In some cases you can actually die if you die in your sleep. However,Janeway has balls the size of galaxies.
