This is so priceless, not only for their appearing and then playing, but Carol Burnett's reaction is hysterical to the question, and I agree with those who say that the show is so wonderful because of their chemistry and ability to entertain.
I remember this show but wasn't old enough to understand it or be interested in it. My father would come home from work and turn on Match Game. He also threw shoes at the t.v. when the screen fuzzed up.
I LOVE this episode, espcially when Gene says "Where the hell are we, I forgot, I lost my place?!" lol, and where Brett's answer is swimming and Gene get's mad!

Richard Dawson was a pompous ass...and some of the best material he ever had did not even belong to him...he always used to copy W.C. Fields...what a jerk.
Richard Dawson was known as a total ego with a head. Notice how he kisses Carol first knowing that will get the camera shot by doing it. Ms. Burnett. never had him on her show. Sweet as she is she could not stand him.
Carol Burnett looked happy that Richard Dawson kissed her.She said is this Family Feud and she laughed. How do you know that Carol Burnett couldn't stand Richard Dawson?
Thanks for posting this clip! It was hysterical. How fun and impromptu. My big question is, did Dick Shoe, the contestant win? What happened? Did they count the visitors answers? It's a real cliff hanger. ;-)
This show was taped on the same stage as Carol's show (Stage 33 at CBS) The Price Is Right tapes there now and has for years. Stages at CBS were often shared and 33 was used a lot!
There was a contestant on Match Game that when asked a question it went like "something brought a cuckoo ___" the contestant answered "fran and ollie." The panelists were in awe and couldn't contain themselves.
There was a children's puppet show back in the, uh, 1950s called "Kukla, Fran and Ollie". I don't know what the strange name "kukla" is supposed to mean, but there you go...
Actually it was a Super Match question where Gene said "Cuckoo ____", and that's where the lady contestant said "Cuckoo, Fred, and Ollie", which was in reference to "Kukla, Fran, and Ollie" mentioned by Captain Paintball below.
Great Clip!
