I signed the petition to get Tom Udall on the ballot and I'm happy to see that he's pushing for the public option. I hope it will go through so people like my grandmother, (who capped out on her medicare and can no longer afford all of her medications), can finally get the care they desperatly need.
What blank check are you talking about? Right now, the insurance companies hold the blank check and are consistently rationing care. I have a public option because my husband was in the military. Tricare isn't perfect, but it's much better than anything else that was available to me. I still pay $3000 out of pocket most years because I have serious health concerns. But I know I can't be dumped by my insurance company. That's a lot of peace of mind.
If there is anyone who has a clear-eyed view of how the political process ought to function to support and protect the citizenry of this country, it is Tom Udall. He comes by it honestly--look at the Udall family history. They have blazed a sterling trail of public service. Tom Udall is a rare combination of intelligence, insight, self-discipline, sensitivity, common sense, along with a strong thread of self-effacing humor. Tom Udall has this whole health care thing nailed. Thank you, Mr. Udall!
Public insurance is the best option that I have seen having worked for the Medicaid Program as a Health Care Analyst in Michigan, and for private insurance King County Blue Shield. I was shocked at the difference. Blue Shield had no controls and were interested in their own bottom line according to politics, not the subscribers. We need a government administered option for anyone who chooses. They will not be disappointed. Thanks Tom Udall for speaking out for your constituents. You are tops!!

Right on! Public insurance is the best option available. The Medicare system is far more efficient and far more fair.

This is hardly public option. when one side has a blank check their will be no competition. It is GOVERMENT OPTION and a fraud on the voters!
