@falcoperegrinus82 how would you define singing like a girl? you mean having a vocal range that can reach high and beautiful notes? cuz im pretty sure most good singers shoot for what chris has achieved
I love this band's alt rock side a lot for its lyricism. Stay What You Are, In Reverie, and Daybreak are all masterpieces in their own regard. Through Being Cool is a classic pop punk album though and deserves love.
album came out freshman year in high school...this band was played so much by all my friends and i loved it. now still enjoying the hell out of it 12 years later :)
took me ten minutes to find which track this was! that's the problem with mixtapes....oh youtube crowd. well kids, a tape is an old physical device that used to hold music.....lol teenagers
WEIRD story about this album. My ex-fiance left the vinyl of this in my closet when she moved out last year when we broke up. I paid no real attention to it and I recently got a turntable and such. I played this album and it hit me SO hard. I've always liked Saves the Day but this album gave everything so much meaning. And it helps I'm from NJ too, haha.
Blink 182 was more of pop-punk, while Saves the Day, I feel was more leaned on the emo/alternative side of things, mixed with punk. Both great bands, and both extremely influential in their own rights. This song, by the way, played a major role in my summer of 2002! What a great CD!
@paoreus that seriously sounds like my 2002 haha saves the day, the ataris, skateboarding and sneaking out to see my gf. Life was waaaaayy simpler back then. Now if i could just find the repeat button for my life haha
It's a shame how under-rated this album is. I think this is almost better than Stay What You Are, I want this sooooo bad and can't find it anywhere...Maybe it's because I'm only looking for it at the used CD store. I would have this CD as soon as it came out, but unfortunately I was only 2.
@johnedward430 Right on, legit choices. I dunno why, but I dig Sound the Alarm, it was intense. Then it would be Through Being Cool, then Stay What You Are for me.
@medievalknight14 I had to order it through a local shop here in Canada, as I did for all their albums, and it was like 30 bucks. More than worth it though.
@medievalknight14 sometimes the best music out there came out before our time. I am 21 and I grew up with some great music but a lot of music went over my head until I locked back. Listening to older bands and seeing their shows is a choice I will never regret.
blink-182 was formed in 1992. Saves the Day became was formed in 1994, with the name Selfer. They changed it late in 1997. I found that in thirty seconds on Wikipedia.
What is anybody bringing up Blink 182? They suck, always have. Saves the Day on their first record were ripping of the kings of the genre, lifetime. Now it was still a great record, but it was really obviously trying to be lifetime. Then they found their own sound with "Through Being Cool", and it was also a great record. Then on their 3rd, they lost me...
you have no idea what it was for its time, it was before blink 182. you have to be objective this was breakthrough, the most influential band of the genre since the get up kids.
@LorcaAdonai this is not pre-blink...blink has been around since the mid 90's..Through Being Cool came out around 2000...this album is great cause steve evetts produced it....as a NJ native I've seen every band that has come from this great state, from the Misfits, catch 22, dillinger escape plan..etc....
@LorcaAdonai Yeah, Blink went mainstream crazy poular after Saves the Day. But they were well on their way to being great before STD. Some would argue early blink was better anyway.
@nfg04gt yes it was blink 182 was main stream first if that makes a different but the ep this song originally came out on dates back before blinks first released album but they were around before them theres a interview of blink sayin these guys were one of there influences to wanting to make music u prob one of those kids who thinks blinks the only band who ever existed and never listened to anything else
@LorcaAdonai As much as I like Saves the Day and agree they are influential to many bands, I think Blink- 182's first album was in 1994 as oppose to Save the Day's first in 1998. You have to give Blink some major credit for paving the way. That said, they are both very different bands and they both took what came before to the next level.
Why did Chris have to start singing like a girl?? He sounds so great here!
