Managers push the people on the sales-floor. They want to see more initiative and more money coming in.

At my job, we have a slew of things we NEED to say and do (one of which being to push an item). We have a secret shopper that docks us if we don't.

A salesperson is only pushing because they HAVE to. Trust me.

Learn to listen then decline respectfully.

Sometimes that first option comes to my mind as well. I just want a certain pair of jeans and come in the store and ask for them and she sais we dont have those and then she starts showing me all the other types they have even though I already said no, thats ok, thank you.
