The "scene" - whatever that means - is full of alcoholic, clap-ridden, smalltown bitchy freaks who need to get a life. edinburgh has ideas way above its station because of the Festival - for the other 11 months it's shit. Nonsense! That may have been true years ago but not for a long, long time.
I know many people who are openly both gay and bi in Edinburgh, some of whom are very flamboyant with it and they never have any problems.
It's a very friendly and open gay scene in Edinburgh.
