Hi there, CPF. The 3 *best* books on the subject of Herbal Magick I've ever read are:

* Herb Craft, by Anna Franklin (I still refer to Cunningham, but it blows his compendium outta' the water, by far!)

* A Salem Witch's Guide to Herbal Magic, by Laurie Cabot (staple-bound)

* The Secret Life of Plants (a gr8 chap on the "aura")

Personally, as a Witch, I am deeply passionate about brewing potions to be rubbed on the skin; I blame Laurie's "Power of the Witch" for getting me into THAT! :o)

Hey Flora! I have daisys, geraniums, rosemary & lavender growing , among other things. Could you tell me some uses for these plants, & what parts of the plant to use? Thanks!

Lavender is great for purification, love, protection, peace. Rosemary is for strong purification aka exorcism, protection and healing. Geraniums are for love, healing, protection, fertility. Also the color of the flowers will put a variation on the energy of the plant. Ex. Light pink More friendly love or romantic love (Not sex), Healing by the heart etc. I am not sure about Daisy. I connect with Plants and ask them to reveal their magical qualities. BB

are store bought herbs as powerful as herbs you grow yourself? yeah they'd make a handy quick substitution but doesn't your power kinda rub off on a plant you grow?

I personaly think herbs you grow yourself have more power, because you have nurtured the plant to help it grow.  But store bought herbs work very well too.

You mentioned using the prepackaged herbs that sell at the grocery store. Would I dry them using the bag with whole technique that you mentioned in Part 1?

I love Scott Cunningham's books. I havent read them all or the one that you mentioned, but he seems to be the easiest to get and understand.

Yes, you can dry them using either drying method, if you buy fresh herbs. If you buy the already prepared herbs, ie..McCormick, those are already dried and ready to use.

When you say to add herbs at the bottom of your candle, do you mean outside the candle class? I recently had an incident where I placed the herb inside the candle which started a mini fire. If I place them outside the candle class, will it still be ok/functional in the candle spell?

Put them at the base of the candle, not in them.  They will still become infused with the intention and the power of the candle.

Just depends on what you want to use. Each practioner is different. I would say...Sage is the most commonly used...
