  • So primitave and stupid.. Its killer!!

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, its a real shame about the audio quality of these recordings, but at least they give people the chance to hear some of the Necromadus material that was never recorded in a proper studio, I still love litening to these old tapes despite the sound quality, Bazs uniqe guitar style has always astounded me, it is almost impossible to emulate.

  • what a pity!! audio quality

  • Granted, the quality of the actual recording is very limited, but take the time to listen to the guitar work on offer here, Baz Dunnery was one of the best guitarists in the UK, he could have had fame, but he chose obscurity.

I see from your profile that your are only 20, so your comments are understandable.

For better sound quality, check out some of the studio material thats out there:- 'OREXIS OF DEATH' or 'NECROTHOLOGY'

  • lamest horseshit music evar

  • @scratchneck well, what music you listen to

  • @Tettuli the good ones

  • oh man. i cant even put to words... i worship this

  • ...simply one of the best bands ever...thanks for this clip man...

  • Tony iomi was their manager

  • Tony Iommi (black sabbath) Produced their lp "Orexis Of Death"!

  • they toured with black sabbath and were friends.. Ozzy did try to make a solo album with them just before recording the never say die album. The singer on this song is near ozzy voice !!

  • sabbath cover ...and the voice of the lead vocal is almost incompreensible.!!

but the sound like pretty good

  • YEARS ahead of their time... no wonder they never 'made it'... such a damn shame! Reminds me of Pagan Altar's first album a lot...

  • I just can't believe how excellent this is!! Incredibly good guitar...wow... I can't believe this band didn't really blow up, they should have. I only wish I could make out the lyrics..

  • Its hard to comprehend how Vertigo could have shelved their album, due out in 1973, I'm certain that it would have led on to success for them.

Frank hall, (Necromandus drummer and only surviving member of the band), mentions in an interview that during the studio sessions for their album, Steve Howe from Yes was in the same studio, and was watching Bazs amazing guitar work, the look on his face was a picture, I dont think he could work out what was the Hell was going on at the time!

  • how did the other three die? Was Iommi really their manager?? (it says in Record Collector) - he must have been busy; living in the US, doing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath etc

  • @hugobear1 Billy Branch ( the vocalist) unfortunatley took his own life.

Dennis Mcarten(Bass Player) im not sure what he died of.

Barry (Bazz Dunnery) died after a battle with Cancer.

They were very tallented guys. Ive got the live recording at Blackpool,( an aquired taste) ,but thats the band (probably) at there best.

  • You can get Necromandus cds from Audio Archives label from Shadow Kingdom Records. There are 3 different cds available.

  • Fucking hell, just discovered this purely by chance... Wow! This is fucking awesome! Thanks for sharing dude!

  • Check out my other NECROMANDUS clips..... also, search for:- 'SPANGALIZER JAMMING IN THE BARN' to hear more of Bazs incredible guitar work.

  • the more i listen to this show, the more i think it should be released in some manner, and i cant find these songs (live or studio). its an amazing set. buzz, do you know how i can track this show down? oh yeah, the guitar here is flat out extraordinary.

  • When Necromandus had the chance to record their 1st album, I dont know how they decided which songs to choose???

So much of their great material was never layed down properly in a studio, yet the songs are pure magic, some live versions of these songs have survived on rare tape recordings, but due to the sound quality not everything is suitable for release, I have picked out a few songs that despite the limited sound, show fans what potential this band had, I cant pass out copies, sorry!

  • wow i'm so ashamed i've never heard this band until today. this fuckin rules man

  • thats perfectly understandable and fair, as long as you keep these on youtube for fucking eternity! haha, cheers friend!

  • the guitar on this consistently astounds me. also ,buzz, what has singer billy branch done after necromandus? til his death that is.

  • As far as I am aware, Billys only other venture after NECROMANDUS, was in 1984 when he guested in the studio with HAMMERHEAD along with NECROMANDUS drummer Frank Hall, two songs were recorded:- a re-worked version of 'DONT LOOK DOWN' and also 'LOCHINVAR'. these are still available on the HAMMERHEAD CD 'WILL TO SURVIVE' .

Prior to NECROMANDUS Billy and Baz were both together in the 1960s in a band called PINK DREAM, I do not know if any recordings exist from that time.

  • This is awesome, how could I have missed something like this back in 1972?

  • this is absolutely good!

As far as i know some material had been re-released by Lee Dorrian's Rise Above but they are already out of print, please Lee, if you read this please print more!!!

  • Bullfrogbuzz!! do you have this full gig? and a track list? cheers.

  • Necromandus Live at the Station Hotel1972:- 1. Dont look down Frank 2. Christianity 3. Curly sea slug 4. Hung up Down 5. Staggerlee 6. Judy Green Rocket - I'm sorry but I cant send copies of this, but a few of these tracks can be heard on my Youtube site if you look... hope this helps!

  • One of the few good things to come out of west Cumbria!!

  • i don't know them. Smebody may tell me something about. Thanks!

  • I know Tony Iommi produced their original , there is a compilation available called "Downer Rock Genocide" with some of their music & other rare British Metal of the early 70's

  • Funny how Iron Claw gets a cease and desist letter from Sabbath for sounding too much like them back in the day but Iommi goes and manages this band who also sounds similar to Sabbath.

  • Really?! I never knew this happened. What more information do you have? What year was this?

  • where can find this song?

  • As far as I know this song isn't available anywhere else, it is one of several tracks on a rare recording made in 1972 at the Station Hotel in Workington, copies of this are not available I'm afraid.

  • damm! ok this song rulz!

  • BULLFROGBUZZ, do you have a copy of this live tape? Do you trade for CDRs of other '70s bands? I'd love to get my hands on an un-mp3'd CDR of this live show.

  • yea tony iommi is the producer n take this group in tour with sabbath!!

  • Great! Great song! It's possible to hear jazz/blues and Sabbath influences... I wish I had had more time to have a talk with Frank when I met him...

  • P.S. By the way , the picture of god in his universe (by Frank Hall) hung in my house for over 35 years

  • cheers Buzz, but I think this was well before Baz gave up the drink!!!!Believe me folks, it did get better.

  • This is a great track, I hadn't heard this one before.

    RIP, Baz.
