As funny as this is, Pandora mode is looking to (thankfully) be one of the worst comeback mechanics ever. The time it lasts is roughly 10 seconds (actually, a bit less), your meter is in refill mode as opposed to infinite (meaning you can't just do SHINKU HADOKEN SHINKU HADOKEN SHINKU HADOKEN), and when it's over, you die. I HIGHLY doubt it's going to be a QUATER as effective as X-Factor. And thank God for that.

Good to know though. It seems like you can just counter it by turtling up, so I wonder if there is going to be any advantage to not using it; as in, is anything given up for using it that could be kept and used or is Pandora really the only option?

This isn't X-Factor. There's no one to assist you afterwards so those who have bad or readable mixups are dead. The game isn't chip-heavy so far, so you can't spam supers. No one has 70%+ combos with it so far. Those with LOOOOONG supers and specials will waste their time, so its not anyone using Zangief can just lariat and jump in 360 their way to victory. If your point character has good health, you can just wait it out too.

If anything, its a bizarro Blood Heat (Melty Blood).

I dont see it as a comeback mechanic. Seeing as other games you are just given X Factor you dont need to do anything or give anything up. Sure you lose characters in the fight but thats bound to happen anyways. Here you are willingly giving up the best asset in the game the ability to do tag combos which do insane damage for a slight increase in damage that lasts who knows how long.
