  • NBC should use this for their NFL games again. The current one is too much like Star Wars.

  • This theme should be played at the end of the superbowl for the champions every season.

  • FUCK THE COWGIRLS STEELER UP

  • This is football!!!

  • @joisey82 Cowboys N Steelers Superbowl XXX ------>> Cowboys '95-'96 Champs!

  • I like this song, but still it reminds me of Irish Riverdance music.

  • It's weird- even though the last time this theme was heard was Super Bowl 32 in 1998, where the Broncos finally won; for some reason this theme conjures up memories of the devastating Jacksonville loss from the prior season for me lol.

  • Now lets go to the Meadowlands with Greg Gumbel for an update.....

  • please I whould lve to have NFL on NBC theme for super bowl XLVI!!!!!!

  • Fox got rights to the NFC in 1993 and started airing in 1994. ABC still had a deal. CBS was the only major network that had no football until 1998 when they bought the AFC from NBC. THERE. Now it's solved.

  • no, in 1998 NBC lost the rights to televise the NFL, so CBS gained the AFC from CBS, in the 1998 season.

  • @CutlerSUX6402 ... agreed, this theme combines an epic sensibility with nuance and finesse, plus something that evokes the wintry conditions that make for vintage football. But nowadays, everything supposedly needs to be "sexed up" with someone like Faith Hill.

  • I miss this theme.

I think I even have a VHS NFL tape with Bill Parcells humming this theme.

  • @VanillaLimeCoke

If you can find it, could you upload it? And when was Bill Parcells humming this theme. Was it during an interview, a commercial he was in or during a game with the MIC on him?

  • @joisey82 wrong

  • Back when Dick Enberg and Charlie Jones ruled NFL broadcasting! (Pat Summerall too on CBS and FOX :)

  • NBC's coverage was underrated during the 80s and 90s. Only problem was they were the slowest and last network to integrate a scoreboard bug that stayed on the screen the entire game. Reminds me of Paul McGuire, Marv Albert, Joel Myers, Bob Trumpy, Sam Wyche just to name a few guys I wish that still called games.

  • @kuncy23 Marv Albert is on CBS now :)

  • nbc needs to take ova again.... fruck abc

  • goosebumps brotha

  • Marino, Elway, Bledsoe, Brunell, Terrell Davis...All the greats of that era...what a fun time in the NFL that was!

  • back when it was still a mans game

  • best nfl theme by far!!!!

  • @joisey82 This theme was definitely used until at least the 1997 season. NBC aired Super Bowl XXXII, which was during the 1997 season. Fox aired the following Super Bowl.

  • Good theme, but whenever I hear this, I get sad because it kinda has a sad feel to it because it has a finality to it. Just think about it, this was the last NFL on NBC theme before the AFC went to CBS. Now, with their new theme, it's like they're saying "WE'RE BACK!!!"

  • If I had my own country, this would be my national anthem.

  • I agree with everyone

    Bring this back for

    Sunday night football

  • Ah, Super Bowl XXXII. God I miss the old Broncos!

  • great theme!! sounds like something that can be used in the Olympics!!

  • @eclipspyd99 Or a wedding.

  • cbs lost thenfc rightsTO FOX on 1994, nbc didnt loose theirs till 2000, thats when cbs got the AFC TEAMS, NBC WOULD COME BACK ON 2006 AND GET THE SUNDAY NIGHT GAMES ALONG WITH THE SAT WILD CARD GAMES!

  • Bayou432 is right about when CBS and NBC lost the respected packages.

  • this almost made me cry

  • I miss this song bring it back NBC

  • They need to bring this back! NBC YOU LISTENIN?

  • NBC has fallen so hard since the days of the 90s.

  • @joisey82

NBC didn't lose the right to the NFL until after the 1997 season.

  • @2ndRangers2nd This song is definitely beautiful, and brings tears to my eye. Why can't major networks have epic themes like this anymore?

  • Yep, I remember it like it was yesterday. The Broncos beat the Packers and NBC ended the coverage of the Superbowl with the highlights (Terrell Davis, mile high salute) of the game with this theme. That was the last time this theme was played. I wish NBC would go back to it.

  • @joisey82 NBC lost the NFL in 98.

  • @joisey82 I think it was in '97 when NBC lost their contract because thats when fox signed a nfl contract deal.

  • @e521soediv 1997 was the last year NBC had games until a couple of years ago.

  • @e521soediv This theme was used from 1995 to 1997. NBC lost the AFC contract to CBS following the 1997 season. FOX had gained the NFC from CBS following the 1993 season.

  • @bayou432 K.

  • @bayou432 That is absolutely correct!!!

  • @ayekooks86 yea man everything in da 90s was better, especially sports theme songs and major network songs. now they dnt give a shit all about the money

  • I always liked this music, even though it sounded more Christmas-y than football-y.

  • this is the NFL on NBC for week 1 for the 2010 seasom!

  • I prefer this NFL on NBC theme song than the the stuff they got out now.......ohhh memories!

  • Kinda sounds right considering they lost the AFC after SB32, this to me sounds kinda sad. Like it's the end of an era.

  • "Lois & clark " superman song? lol

  • The best theme i heard

  • Denver, Elway and Super Bowls. That's what this reminds me of.

  • The song reflects class. Similar to the MLB theme from the mid to late 80's. NBC has alway's had the best sports musical pieces. I love this theme but the one from the late 70's into the early 80's is memorable.

  • it has da chime and da marriage theme

  • This song is going to cure cancer some day...

  • Awesome but the NBA on NBC was unforgetable!

  • @prodiggy13 yep... all i can think of is Jordan in the NBA Finals in 1991-93, 1996-98, everytime i hear the theme.

  • this reminds me of dick enberg.

  • Sure does. Man, I miss this. Reminds me of the days of Dan Marino, John Elway, Jim Kelly, and the other star AFC players back then

  • NBC Nothing But Cops at least it seems that way now!

  • It'll b real cool if dat theme played @ every Super Bowl dey have.

  • Yep. Give it up for da saints and drew brees! WHO DAT!!!

  • i know who u r...a bitch

  • @adamz003, I can't understand you with that cock in your mouth!

  • @e521soediv FUCK THE SAINTS

  • awesome theme song!! kinda reminds me of the Olympics!!

  • Growing up i watched all of my sports on NBC particularly Football and Basketball, those two sports made the network back in the 90's when i was growing up if only they can bring basketball back i would be so happy lol

  • Just an exquisite piece of music.

  • fag.

  • People don't watch that Sunday Night intro for Faith's singin...my God, I want to smash every time I see her in that dress

  • Fox Sports ruined the NFL. Annoying pre-game show, pompous announcers (Joe Buck), and too much crap information.

Bring back the original NFL Today on CBS.

  • No to mention that stupid robot in the corner when they come back from commercial.

  • This NFL theme song is underrated

  • @dxmanning69 agreed

  • i like nbc's nba theme music better.

  • i liked it better when

    cbs had the nFc package

    NBC the afc package

abc monday night football i grew up in the 80s and i remember how the nfl was broadcasted.

  • I thought I was the only one who thought of a DisneyWorld commercial when I heard this!

Ok, ok... decent piece of music but definitely NOT fit for TV football. Maybe baseball when NBC still had it. Maybe an NFL films production when the winning team runs off the field in slo-mo. But for a TV intro to get you jacked up for the noon game? (And up here in an NFC market I always seemed to get the AFC games that turned into 6-3 stinkers. No offense, AFC fans.) No, no, no.

  • Is it possible Randy Edelman still had Brisco County Jr. on his mind when he wrote this? lol

  • this theme and NBCs coverage of the NFL sucked back then they would hide the scoreboard for most of the game

  • SUPER BOWL XXX GO COWBOYS!!!!

  • Great theme for Breakfast at Wimbledon, but not the NFL. Maybe that's why the snobby folks at NBC sports lost out on the NFL.

  • It was a great theme for the NFL. The NFL is much about passion, emotion, excitement and drama. This theme certainly has an epic, exciting and dramatic feel to it.

And the theme they used has nothing to do with why they lost the NFL back in early 1998. The reason they lost the NFL was because they didn't want to have to pay the increasing rights fees when the new television contracts came up. CBS also wanted badly to get back into the NFL, and they were willing to pay a huge amount.

  • This is a fine theme, but it was ill-fitting for football. Especially when they would go to commercial and the "high" parts would come in ... it sounded like a Disney movie or something. Their new theme is much better for this setting.

  • this is way better than the one they have i remember this song it brings me back when denver played greenbay in the superbowl go patriots

  • Who needs Faith Hill!

  • I like it, it's good music, but it just doesn't scream "football" to me. This sounds more like what you'd play at the end of a sports movie where the high school or college team overcame the odds and won - this is what you play during the final dunk or the no-audio team and fan cheering and celebrating after the win. Football music for football's sake shouldn't be soaring, it should be pumping - it should hint at glory and combat more than character and satisfaction. Just my two cents.

  • Your two cents, and my two as well. Though I will say this a good piece of music overall, and would actually work great as a baseball theme. But I never thought this was a fit for a football broadcast.

  • I'm sort of sentimental towards this theme because it's the "NFL on NBC" theme (the old, AFC version) that I remember the most. It was also the last one that they used before CBS replaced them as the AFC broadcaster in 1998. When NBC got the "Sunday Night Football" package, I was hoping that they would bring this theme back (for pure nostalgia and continuity reasons). But, they decided to go in a completely new direction.

  • I had always wondered had NBC gotten the Sunday Afternoon AFC or NFC television package when they got back into the NFL T.V. business in 2006 if they would have bought this theme back? Of course we will never really know, but my guess would have been yes.

I wonder if they decided to go in a completely new direction because it was Sunday Night Football national broadcasts as opposed to Sunday Afternoon AFC or NFC regional/national broadcasts.

  • Totally totally totally agree....

  • I agree it would be more appropriate for baseball if you ask me.

The MNF theme and Fox Football are the best if you ask me.

  • Bring this back nbc & cbs get rid of your new one it sucks!!!!!!!!!

  • i like cbs, but nbc's new one is bad.. they should bring this one back or make a new one

  • This theme sounds like something u play at a graduation. LOL

  • That's exactly what I'd thought.

  • @BallinNQnz Lol, I would've loved to of had this played at my HS Graduation instead of the typical graduation song.

  • The best NFL theme was the Monday Night Football on ABC.

  • yeah it is, it actually pumps you up more for the game

  • NBA one is better...

  • 1) NFL on NBC

    2) NBA on CBS

  • 3) ace11rothstein dead

  • this definitely has an NBC ring to it!! it almost reminds me of the Olympics.

  • nbc should go back to theam song the one they have now sucks i love this one thanks its been a while since ive heard this go pats

  • wahh?

    Thats awesome!

im gonna go learn how to play it on th piano real quick....

  • lol this didn't last long

  • Now all that's needed is for the Cleveland Browns

to return to their glory days of the 1940's,1950's and 1960's by winning another NFL title.

  • ...Have they even won a title before?

  • Five AAFC titles from 1946 to 1949.

Five NFL championships from 1950 to 1964.

In their first season, 1950 in the NFL, the

Cleveland Browns beat the defending 1949 NFL

champs, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cleveland

Browns won the NFL championship in their first year in the NFL 1950.

  • and now they kinda suck lol

  • @e521soediv Not a Super Bowl (largely thanks to us Broncos, oops!) but they have won NFL championships in the pre-Super Bowl years.

  • @e521soediv Not in the Super Bowl era, but yes they have won AFC Championships.

  • @e521soediv

They've won titles in the AAFC and the NFL (Pre-Super Bowl era), but never a Super Bowl.

  • worst team ever

  • Epic!

  • why is this marked spam?!

  • Excellent!

  • Yes, verrrrry beautiful indeed. It's like 1 of those war/fight songs.

  • yea it is gogokris85 it sounds like something you would hear at a nortre dame football game.

  • U know, I never eeeeever heard dat theme 4 da NFL on NBC from da mid 90's till this past winter. I thank u 4 da comment u sent me.

  • Thanks no problem.

  • ESPN happened.

Hey guys who wants to watch Bill Walton, Mike Tirico and Mark Jackson call NBA games?? Anybody? Bueller?

  • Bill Walton rocks the fucking house....could take or leave the other 2

  • everything was always good in the 90's

  • yep lexxypexxy

  • @lexxypexxy shaved pussies became a fad in the 90s, so ya ur right.

  • @lexxypexxy Especially the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, except in the playoffs

  • DON'T REMIND ME.

  • Nice John Elway theme.

  • Great song, I agree. I can hear the similarities between this, my local NBC news open/close, and good morning america open (when i watched the first few minutes of it like 2 years ago, donno if its changed)

    briing it baaaack

  • they should bring back this theme for the Superbowl only

  • I would love to see someone make a Mash-up of the beat of this song along with the words from "We been waiting all day for sunday night".

  • The themes NBC played for their sports intros in the 1990's were the best! I'd love it if NBC plays this theme for the Super Bowl this year. =D

Better yet, I wish NBC had the Sunday afternoon games as opposed to the Sunday Night games, as should ABC for MNF. Screw you Rupert Murdoch!

  • they should bring this back for super bowl XLII on NBC

  • Or the 1970's NFL theme too.

  • This was a cool theme.

  • this theme takes me back to my childhood...hearing dick enberg introduce a game from pittsburgh or san diego or another AFC city. wonderful.

  • LOVE THIS THEAM

  • Roundball Rock is better. imo.

  • Roundball Rock is better for NBA basketball, but this is better for NFL football. As for which is better overall, I think they are both great.

  • This is certainly NBC's best NFL theme no doubt!!! FOX,CBS,ABC,ESPN,NFL NETWORK not even NFL ON TNT came close. There crew was always the best.

  • does anybody know why NBC pick the peacock as their mascot? just wondering

  • the NBC Peacock was created in 1956 to banner NBC programming broadcast in what was then a new medium...color

  • *Was this music created especially for the NFL on NBC or is there a name to this music?

I LOVEd this music! Thanks for the Post!!!

  • it was for the NFL on NBC back in the 90's

  • I miss this versions of the song the old 93 cbs nfl theme & this the new songs are crap

  • no prob :)

  • yes NBC and CBS should have the sunday games and MNF should go back on ABC again like it used to be. FOX is ok but sometimes there coverage and thier broadcasting just gets "cheesy" and it starts to become more of a big joke of a broadcast instead of calling the action play-by-play.They need to quit all of those comedy gigs and choose whether are you a "serious" broadcast or a more "comedic" broadcast just for the "entertainment" factor.

  • I second that. I wish ABC still had MNF, and CBS and NBC had all the Sunday games.
