Great movie yaar. These pieces are rare in the world of modern indian cenema. It depicts the naked truth of the society which may be bitter, but it happens. No miracle can be done for Rukmani bai to give her a livelihood except the thing presented to her in form of phoolmani. It shows the helplessness of the women in that profession.

its a great movie, we sometimes forgets these people who does an important social work, yes the sex workers who satisfy the societies wild hunger and maintain an equlibrium in society. If they were also not there how can innocent girls can step out from their home and walk freely through our streets which is full of this wild wolves hungrly waiting for their flesh and pleasure. there for we should accept this sex workers as a part of our society. at least we should let them live peacefully.

i loved the ending..its such a bitter truth of our society. The girl who was "saved" from prostitution and was taken away to nariniketan(the hidden prostitutehouse) for better life runs away and comes back to rukmani's kotha.
