The knuckleball has to dance, many kids on my squad think they have good knucklers cause the fact that the ball doesent spin..butttt, it supposed to dance, its an unpredictable pitch..just cause you basically throw an eephus that doesent spin doesent mean you have a good knuckleball....knuckleballs may just drop down one pitch, they may just go to the left the next one, or go to the right the next one, or anything in between.but yeah just cause you have no spin, doesent mean you throw it. Dance!
Knuckler is the toughest pitch to master. Most can throw one, the problem is throwing 50 in a row. Unlike a bad slider or curve one that rotates a couple of times is slow (very) and straight. The ball can rotate slightly best is clockwise or counter clockwise as the slight rotation causes the ones that dance. It is a slow pitch as the mechanics of throwing it are different. Niekro threw very slow 50's 60's. A 2d camera won't show it well if it works you will see it there is no doubt about it
im 13 and like all other kids i just mess around and throw knuckle balls but im tryin to acctualy getgood at it,it has no front or back spin but it has side spin. Any suggestions???
I'm not an expert on pitching, it's just that I discovered a new grip that worked for me is all. Keep on experimenting and something will happen I'm sure!
try different fingers and grips eventually one will work best for you.. remember to push the ball more than actually "throw" the ball. it's a different motion on release
In truth his knuck seems to be very flat although having minimal rotation. May just be because its in slow motion but the catcher didnt really adjust much to it which means it traveled as expected thus making it flat. Hard pitch to throw. I tried to figure it out through HS and college ball and trashed it because it never worked as intended. A good knuckleballer is scary though, in many years of baseball faced 1 and it was a VERY hard pitch to hit.
A knuckle ball is a knuckle ball because it is thrown without any spin. The ball didn't spin at all, as you can see in the last few seconds of the clip. Even if it only broke from top to bottom, it was still a knuckle ball.
the problem isnt even that..its that too many ppl are trying to throw it without proper mechanics backing it..even then it can be learned in one day but its gonna take time to master

Should've posted that full-speed. Video doesn't capture movement that well.

You cant learn how to throw it in one day. Its the hardest pitch to learn how to throw.

Yeah; it's like the moonwalk. There's n00bs that claim to know how to do it, but they really don't.
