  • That was indeed a detailed answer.. thanks..however in this case 'Fixed' means a harmonium without a scale changer..this is the term used for most of the triple and four reed models..for a non collapsible model, we call it a 'Standard' model here...Thanks.

  • how it happens that this instrument plays octaves by itself? is this what "fixed" means? how is this fixed?

  • @sexypoetry It plays octaves by itself due to a mechanism called the coupler. Its basically like a little swtich that you either flip or pull (depending on the model) and allows you to play on either the left or right octave. In terms of "fixed" it simply means that its not portable (briefcase style). This harmonium you can not fold down so therefore it is known to be fixed. Check out my profile for more info.     I really want a good professional quality harmonium. but scale changer is very costly for me. So i want to buy this one or like this one but sound should be rich.
