Saw the whole movie! It almost made me cry in a good way. I think it's so cool to be living in a place without government and to live by your own rules but still live in a place that knows how to control it in a well manner. I'm 30 minutes into this video and yet that's all it has taken to cause me to realize that Eden still exists. I don't smoke weed... beer is my thing these days but I've found nothing in the U.S. Constitution that says those who smoke weed or frankly partake of anything by choice which doesn't harm anyone is illegal. Thanks for this great video. We've owned 2 desert lots in Carson Estates since the 60s but have never been to see them. We just keep paying the taxes, less than a case of beer a year. This doc was a real eye opener, introducing us to the neighbours. I can say we'd be happy to have these people as our neighbours. Some honest folks who love their country with an obvious passion. Even though the countrys laws have devastating consequences on on some of their lives.

i found this inspiring. i plan to get off the grid myself but i have a plan and i won't be doing drugs or drinking. mostly i just want to try to decouple myself from society a little. actually i will still be very involved in society but just not in a normal way. a while ago i considered doing somethinglike this but now i have an opportunity to do a similar thing that suits me better. a good documentary imo. can you imagine if a majority of americans decided to uncouple from society?

@Cleopatra001 Words are flexible things, but I (and others) define "the grid" as the physical tangible infrastructure that connects normal communities. Things like electric and telephone wires, roads and railways, water and gas lines.

Things like money and social welfare are part of society, but don't move through fixed systems. They are much more fluid and dynamic. Like a cloud rather than a grid. So these folks' labels are correct

@lykopis I don't remember anybody claiming to be an eco-pioneer, but maybe I just missed it. Regardless, their gardens aren't there because gardens don't grow in deserts. Not without expensive irrigation technology, anyway. They may not treat the land with total care, but they live and grow people there. That's productive.

And if food ever became scarce enough, you can bet that the people most inclined to raid others will be the overpampered millions in "civilized" consumer societies.
