  • those 3 people who disliked re all sound death

  • Breathtaking....

  • This is one of the most amazing pieces of music that has ever hit my ears. The swells of the symphony is so intense I can hardly bear it. The vocals are amazing as well.

  • Does anyone know where I can download this? I've had no luck and listen to this on YouTube like 5 times a day instead.

  • MAKES ME CRY

  • well-conducted

  • As much as I love this rendition (a personal favorite on my ipod at the moment) it's hard to find too many live versions of this song on youtube for some reason.

  • la grande civilisation francaise.

  • My favorite piece. Hands down.

  • @lattelove756 What---your favorite composition in all of music?

  • Absolument splendide.

  • Does anyone know the English translation of the lyrics? Roughly? I understand a phrase here or there and I love this song, I'm just a little lost in translation.

  • @ElectricMusicMachine I found it on yahoo.com

    Sad finishes, pale torches,

Day more dreadful than lugubrious darkness

    Stars of the tombs,

No, I will see nothing any more but your funeral clearness's.

You, which see my heart éperdu,

Father of the day, ô sun, ô my father!

I do not want any more a one although Castor

And I give up the light.

  • I love this song. =)

It's so beautiful, and of course I cannot help but to think of the 2006 film about Marie Antoinette. So lovely...

  • soo beautifulll..it gives me shivers

  • honestly, this is a beautiful song.

  • Unfortunatelly I can't speak French, but somewhere I understand your statement. Je suis d'accorde avec toi. Bien joué!

  • Few songs so beautifully capture the soul's agony.

  • To true!!

  • for the moment since which i know the secret , and nothing is the same anymore, this is a perfect song to suit my misery.

  • Simply, amazing.

  • does anyone know who the actual singer is? this song is so magnificent!

  • Agnès Mellon

  • Louis Armstrong

  • One of the most moving songs ever written

  • magnifique!

  • I love this song. It is so beautiful. It brings me to tears.

  • un chef d'oeuvre

  • Sad memorial, pale candles,

    Day more awful than darkness,

    Sinister stars of the graves,

No, from now on, I won't see nothing but your glommy lights.

You, who see my desperate heart,

Father of the daylight, oh Sun, oh my father!

I don't want any more what Castor has lost,

And I give you light up.

  • From the french opera "Castor et Pollux" by JB Rameau. Télaïre, daughter of the God of the Sun, is mourning near the tomb of lover Castor.
  • this song makes me cry so beautiful!!!
