Haha no one knows how to fix this as something like this has never happened before. Do you know what's next in winter '09 and 2010? All the people who got Adjustable Rate Mortgage(ARM) loans are going to start being foreclosed on! How many people have ARMs? At least as many as had sub-primes in not more, meaning we haven't seen half of what's to come yet.
It may be in the next few years or in 15, but we as a country are going to fall HARD and much of the world with us.

The AIG employees receiving bonus checks from AIG deserve this money. They did nothing illegal under the contracts they entered into and these are legal binding agreements. You may have contempt for the money they are receiving but so be it. These funds where provided under an Obama Bill. If you voted McCain I am sorry. These are performance bonuses, not regular salary. No one is saying to strip these people of their salaries, but to hand out perfomance bonuses to a company that went bankrupt in lunacy.
A-Rod has a yearly salary that he is paid whether he plays 0 games or 162. He also has in his contract perfomance bonuses. If he doesn't reach the statistics needed for those bonuses to kick in then he does not get them. Plain and simple.

The money we are giving to AIG is going to Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Bank of America, etc., etc. AIG is paying out insurance on "Credit Default Swaps" to the banks.
The banks are using that money to pay off private hedge funds, many of them of the same type as Bernie Madoff's.
This is a historic crime and financial swindle of proportions you can't even imagine. We are directly paying off rich foreigners for fraudulent "derivatives".

The contracts in question were created under the Bush administration, with Hank Paulson clearly not giving a shit about bonuses. Go ahead and somehow blame Geithner as the "architect" of the AIG bailout even though Bernanke is the chairman of the Federal Reserve.
