  • awesome thing i want one to bad that it is quite expensive :(

    but still it is aweeeeeesooooomeeee

  • What i'd like to have is a HUD-projected FLIR.

  • why do I have filing I have to rob a bank to afford it?

  • wow, when I was in the Army 20 years ago this technology was so primitive that we couldn't even take pictures of the unit itself. It was secret stuff and didn't want technology getting out. Now they are putting it in cars. Amazing.

  • @criticalpass I was looking into the possibility of building a UAV for law enforcement purposes, as a cheaper alternative to helicopters for searching for missing persons and criminals and general surveillance and so on. A FLIR Systems STAR Safire HD has got FLIR nightvision similar to the above but much higher quality (range in excess of 20 km), HD daylight camera and HD low light camera, as well as laser pointer and range finder. Cost? Just above $600,000 for the camera unit alone. Right.

  • Are the other predator view modes aviable, too?

  • i wonder how much this would cost?

  • @mikldude $2400 for the camera by itself. $3000 for the entire setup including 7" monitor.

  • @Stylensky thanks for the reply , cheers.

  • would be a lot cheaper with nightvision goggles lol...

  • It wouldn't be the same thing though, NV is not only easily blinded, but also reduces debt perception.

  • Depth perception too. So FLIR affords depth perception?

  • Looking back at my comment, I think the reduced debt perception in both systems is caused by the number of cameras, with only one camera there will obviously be no debt perception, with two cameras feeding into each of the left and right eye there would be debt perception.

This is pretty rare though. Sorry for being wrong.

  • I agree. Thanks for your input.

  • @sparks444 "Debt" perception? So this camera can see my credit bills?

It's DEPTH perception. Debt is a measure of how much money you owe. Depth is a measure of distance.

  • @RobbyStef yeah but night vision amplifies the amount of light present, so imagine what's going to happen when a car drives toward you with his headlights on, like sparks said, it would blind you. This technology is slowly comming to civilian use but it's still costs several thousand dollars.

  • @cameron3512641 This isnt "night vision" its infrared vision. Visable light has ZERO effect on it. Essentialy you're not seeing light but rather a source of heat. If you walked bare foot across a cold floor you could see your warm footprints with this camera.
