Yes but microbolometers are less sensitive than cooled ones. They are good for mass market and purposes like surveillance. For measuring the heat of an object light years away you would still probably go for a cooled one.
we do not have the technology to bring materials like that to the moon efficiently. It took a LOT of fuel for one round trip. To actually build an array up there would take tremendous amounts of money and time. We need to develop better launch techniques before any of that can happen.
This calibur of production & information is exactly what we need, in terms of standards for readily available television and radio programs here in the U.S.
cheers to that! you should go out sometime in the near future with a pair of binoculars and see the orion nebula. its so easy to find and u dont need a big scope to see it
I can't believe this video only has a 1500 views it is absolutely amazing! The most retarded garbage gets millions of views on account of pure stupidity, yet something so elegantly constructed, informative, and simultaneously entertaining can go largely ignored. Shows where peoples truly are.
I also think it's funny that there's no Creationists here arguing that the Big Bang is 'just a theory' or similar ridiculous arguments because you simply can't refute this stuff with Bible scripture lol.
If only that were true. Go look at the comments on some of my favorited videos, they are definitely alive and kicking; and still recycling the same old BS arguments generation after generation.
If Helium3 lives up to its promise as a safe nuclear fuel. Then a Moon Colony is almost enivitable. (Google helium3). Moon colony is no longer far fetched. But star gazing has no practical value at all.
I strongly disagree my reasoning friend. Understanding always has practical value, particularly where the study of 'everything' is concerned. What could possibly have more profound implications than the study of the cosmos? We ourselves are products of stellar nucleosynthesis - "star stuff", as Sagan so aptly stated.
dasaposte It has no practical value. In these days of tight money we must stop spending multi millions on impractical things lings like star gazing. If the private sector wants to fund such things using their own money then fine. That would be their personal choice. However there is a more important and more exciting project to divert that money to. That would be the establishing of a moon colony but only if Helium3 proves out to be the fuel of choice in future nuclear reactors.
Ffreethinker:I can't tell you how much I appreciate you uploading these beautiful awesome clips. Watching them in HD is a shear delight. And listening to the contend makes me feel wonderful. What a great thing to be able to share the discoveries of scientists, to hear and learn about the tools they are using. After watching clips like these one thing comes to mind: It's great to be alive!
I Love this series. Everyone needs to see this. We know so much more than most people realize that we do and it's important that people understand that we have moved well beyond early 20th century (or earlier) understandings of our universe.
I think it's because "because they're gay" just sounds like an insulting comment. I got the joke, though stereotypical. I can't think of how someone could make a joke like that without offending someone. So I didn't respond to it.
But why am I getting voted down? They're ultraviolet aren't they? Are they just actually still generating violet light or can some people see more ultraviolet than others? It's an honest question.
EXCELLENT.

So
If the conspiracy theorists are wrong, and man has been on the moon
When are we gonna see some of the arrays gracing the face of the moon
I mean, with no atmosphere to distort these waves, you would hear more, yes?
Just like the hubble telescope?

Creationism is like a disease that can only be cured by an inoculation of science education and the surgical removal of their blinkers.

Star Gazing! What a waste of money and resources that could be better spent establishing a permanent moon colony.
