I think that for most part of the movie, she's on the verge of losing her sanity. Well, she finally does. She'd rather live imagining him than accepting he's gone forever. It's only us that can see he's not really there.
She seems to see her husband in the distance, but as she runs towards the man, she seems to run past him. We aren't sure whether she's finally found him or if it's a mirage. I suppose the answer is meant to be ambigious
