I wonder if anyone has treid turing one of those into a virtual reality helmet. I have seen people make simulators using parts that look convincing. But if you could make it a virtual reality helmet you would not have to do that.

Thats a lightweight Integrated Chin/Nape Straps HGU-55/P with a MBU-12/P mask. In the fighter world (USAF) it's being replaced with a HGU-55/P Highspeed type. Looks similiar but has a dark gray strip glue above the forehead.

Connects to the A/C via a CRU-60/P or CRU-94.

Well to get one of these you have to be a fully qualified air force pilot with a countries airforce. Although some people say you can find these on ebay or other bidding sites from $500-5000.

Read reply to Grandwaterfrount. My cousin has this in his wardrobe since he flies the Mirage IV. A french version is needed different to the F-16 or Alpha Jet.

you can get it around 500 bucks..my uncle bought the helmet and mbu20 mask at ebay a year ago..you can even "convert" the audio for use with standard audio to you pc and there is also a saperate"DIY converter"..just look at home cockpit builder website..well..thats for hardcore simmer..and my uncle use to play openfalcon with it...

Yes it feels cramped and not so heavy but uncomfortable. You do get used to it though.

The Oxygen tube connects to the actual aircraft through a port and that leads to a oxygen tank.

Its a Gentex HGU-55/P helmet you can purchase them on the internet or ebay anywhere $250+ majority of them are around $500+ with out communication/oxygen equipment.

boy, you seriously believe that there are helmets that cost $20.000? i mean, tax payers have to pay for that, and there are alot of fighter pilots, especially in America. Theyre not as cheap cause theyre not made in China but still, theyre not that expensive.

Thanks, depends. for instance my cousin learnt to fly on the Alpha jet (american) so he uses this helmet. But now he flies the Mirage IV (European) so he uses the European helmet and leaves it at the airforce base. they give him the old one incase he ever goes back onto a American Aircraft. If that makes any sense ;)
