Napolitano is wrong on both counts. If staged disruptions of public debates are protected as "free speech", then anarchists will rule. There will be no public discourse. Anarchy is the opposite of civilized discourse and if anyone, anytime, for any reason, can disrupt that, then the anarchists have won. As for Taser being deadly force, he's off the mark - in over 1M uses and 1+M demonstrations, Tasers have been named as the cause of death in less than a handful (5) after full investigations.
I like Napolitano, however, he made a fool of himself on this article. He needed to do his research before making such an uniformed statement. Taser is not a deadly weapon. Florida Statutes clearly define the Taser as a NON-LETHAL weapon. Oh, and for the people who died after being tased. Look up excited delerium and/or custody death syndrome. I am will to bet that all of them had drug abuse problems and/or mental disorders. The Taser did not kill them!!!!
You're not sure of anything, other than you must defend cops at all costs by making shit up. "Excited delerium(sic)" and "custody death syndrome" ? It can't be the cops fault under any circumstance. It's those crazy, dope heads fault that 50,000volts killed them Bullshit!!!! The only syndrome leading to death in police custody is the" beat your ass and taser the hell out of you syndrome".
Any weapon that causes death is a lethal weapon, moron. I would take the judge's word over yours any day.
ed2276 - I do this for a living. I am an expert witness in both State and Federal Courts. Yes, I do defend cops, however, I have cost many their jobs. In this case, the Judge is 100% wrong. You may want to do some research on those topics (custody death/excited delerium) before commenting. If your simple little mind cannot understand it, I will be happy to explain it to you, just as I have done in many a courtroom setting. And guess what? I won!!
Just like everyone else, you focus on the 50,000 volts. When someone gets electrocuted, it is not the volts that kill you, it is the AMPS. A typical static electricity discharge that we have all experienced averages 30,000 volts. A common electrical outlet carries enough AMPS to kill you as well as the generator in your vehicle. The TASER produces .0021 AMPS (that is much less than a small Christmas tree light bulb which is around 1 AMP). Research please. This is to easy for me!
The discussion of tasers is irrelevant to the issue. Meyer violated the rules of the forums & was ejected. He resisted & created this confrontation? by resisting arrest.
His free speech rights were not violated. His rights don't supersede the rights of others. When he violated the rules of the forums and refused to leave he violated the rights of the organizers and every other attendee.
They were justified in removing him at that time. He had no right to be heard or hear Kerry's answer.
Well, he was disrupting the peace, disorderly conduct, etc. etc. I use my taser when I feel my life's at risk. I don't use it to beat people into submission. They'll take my taser, alright... from my cold, dead hands.
On Fox News he is all for liberty and individual rights, on the radio is a right wing nut. Perhaps he is just an opportunist playing to his respective audience.
thats a dangerous weapon and judge Napolitano is right to limit the use of it; tasers can eb effective but only between the hands of smart people, which is not always the case.
thanks for the info EchelonMonitor. This concerns me greatly because I have an AICD (internal defibrulator). I imagine a tase could be deadly to me. Kudos to the Judge for pointing this out!

"tasers are a Deadly Force " Well he is wrong. They are far less dangerous than the alternatives (batons, pepper spray, guns, etc.).

I agree that they must be restricted or banned.
However, Napolitano is twofaced.
On Fox News he is all for liberty and individual rights, on the radio is a right wing nut. Perhaps he is just an opportunist playing to his respective audience.

7 people died by taser in the past 3 years? lol, he had a good verdict, so why did he have to commit perjury on that point?
69 people died after being tasered in 2005 alone.
