listen Paul YOU play Wonderfully with attention to detail and timing, thats what makes great drummers. you have style and feel, and a lot of drummers inspite of the tech ability lacks that. with you it comes natural WELL DONE BUDD!!!!
I think it's cool to play covers. It's good practice and good for learning stuff. I personally think we playing a cover you should play it with your own style. No robotics or in other words you shouldn't imitate others. Play and be your natural self. Another great vid Paul Thanks
I just subscribed, and dude...some of these people are brutal! I'm a huge Peart follower...you're the only guy who has covered Peart who I considered good enough to subscribe to. You're an amazing listener, because you really are spot-on with a lot of the details. As for the critics who tell you when you miss a ghost note here and there, they kind of need to get a life. Good stuff, man!!
@steve51704000 - and by the way - I obviously know this is NOT a Neil Peart song. I just noticed a lot of negative comments while watching this video, and after having heard some of your RUSH tunes.
Hi Paulie, Love your work - love watching with my 10 year old son. Have you done any early RUSH - like Finding My Way? Or anything else from 2112, like Passage to Bangkok? Also - wondered if you like BURN (Deep Purple) and/or anything by Keith Moon - The Real Me from Quadrophenia looks like it would suit your style the best :) Lastly, I'm a Canuck - and if you don't know them, have a listen to Max Webster - The Party or Toronto Tontos. Great stuff. THX again, Paul
lol everyone bitching cuz he isnt doing the ride part right my god lol his obviously just doing it for fun and hes still a very talented drummer even the greatest make mistakes some times geeze
I always wondered what cymbal your suppose to hit. Does it have to do with the position of your hands and what's closest to you. When you have a lot of cymbals I would think it would get confusing. What's a good rule of thumb.
I tell ya ewhat there random fucking rain maker or whatever the hell your name is,,,,I live in Glennville GA,,,any fucking time you want to come her and say that shit to my face ,,you let me know,,,ill give you the address,,,ANY FUCKING TIME ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!but bring your lunch because it will be an all day affair,,,PROMISE!!!dicktard!!
why,,,,,,,can someone tell me why there is ALWAYS some stupid dipshit who cant say "HEY MAN,,,NICE JOB",,,NO,,they have to say some negative crap,,,geeeeez dbhb WTF,,,,,,WTF kind of fag name is that anyway???
I think the only glaring 'note-for-note' stuff I missed was the ride cymbal diddles on the slower parts. Other than that, and a few kind of muddy fills that are hard to make out near the end, it's pretty faithful to the original. Remember, this is a just a jam to one of my drumming inspirations and favourite songs from Kansas.
thanks paulie for the vids, i haven't drummed in over 5 years and while at university had an urge to play so on the Christmas break i made a bunch of crappy cover but my Kansas was inspired by you. thanks alot
eventually i want to see you do your own improv stuff. i love your videos, and you are an amazing drummer. But these kinds of videos show that you can play an instrument, not that you're a musician. Im sure you are though. I would just like to see some of your own stuff.
I have a few solos posted and some practice videos where I totally improvised. I'll do more. Just search for my name and 'solo' or 'practice' or 'warming up'
dude id hire you in a minute if i was in a band.. you are solid.. and have fun behind the kit. finally someone that doesnt take it to seriously..i had to hit subscribe.. love it!!!
Heh, nice how you changed up how you played the grove around with your left foot and the new remote high hats with your right....great song man, awesome job...how about some Fight Fire with Fire, just for kicks?
OR how about we talk about some Porcupine Tree groves, if your interested, I could use some understanding there.
Nice job again! Love Kansas. Well.... Actually I like all the bands you choose. I've been playin' drums since 1967 and have also played all these songs many times. I never get tired of them. You inspire me to keep learning and playing. Thanks bro!
heyy that was like the best cover i have ever heard!!! by the way could you do totem by rush?? i would realy apreciate it I been wanting too learn this song for some time now. Thanks

you're an awesome drummer, but this song is far from perfect. of course, you and I both know that you were just having fun on this song, as all drummers do, so keep up the work.
"Far" from perfect? I WAS just having fun, but I think it's pretty close to what was played on the album. The only things I did differently was not play some complicated ride patterns and put in a couple of extra fills. Other than that, I think it's pretty fucking close.
