Incase you didn't notice, you need a suit from half-life 2 to get the hp and ammo bar appearing, that's why it's not included in the portal maps on source SDK... When you type in impulse 101, it gives you the suit, and all weapons, do it your self, and you'll see for yourself, and that's why if you type in impulse 101 near the beginning of half-life 2 you can't finish the game because you already have the suit when your supposed to pick it up, so yeah.

no what this is. Its a program that someone made. Considering the fact that half-life and portal 1 are run on the exact same engines what is done here is basically it combines the files between the two games and you can then select a map though the console on portal and select the level you want. It is supposed to be used for using the portal gun in half-life but you can basically do anything you want because you are no basically playing portal/ half-life with the other game mixed in.

Okay, gonna shut this case for everyone.

Portal uses a modified implementation of the Source Engine to create symbolic links in 3D space. As it is a modification of the Source engine, all of the basics (Half-Life stuff) comes with the game.

On the PC version, if you type in sv_cheats 1 and impulse 101, you get the other guns and all of that Half Life stuff. The Portal Gun is just another gun without ammunition, therefore it shows no ammo count.

In short: Portal is a Half-Life mod by Valve. :P
