  • "Slight Return" sounded a little bit dirt, but basically, the same pedal...

  • your digital mic input is clipping like crazy. yikes. nonetheless I thought the "Slight Return" sounded "Slightly Better" a little crisper, a bit less of the typical fuzz face murk...just slightly cleaner in the bass. oh man, then you changed the settings and I thought the older one sounded a little meaner... I guess it's a tossup

  • "Slight return" and Orig. 69 indeed sound very much similar. However seems that Orig. 69 cuts tight better, another words, normally with Slight Return it's like a original 69 with subtly tuned down Tone control on your guitar... doesn't know how to describe it better. By no means better or worse.

  • WoW! why did u try and turn the foot switch like a knob on 5:40 did u think it was a knob 4 a minute that was cool man,,,,sounds good great stuff thank 4 the vid I like 69 Slight return better but both are great pedals

  • liked the old one better!

  • slight return sounds deeper to my ears

  • thx x sharing!! can you please tell what year is the original 1st ed 69 ??

  • not enough diff to justify spending more for the orig. pots trannies etc all have diff values and you could demo two orig or two slights and have them sound diff on the same settings. thanks though you have shown alot here.

  • good video. Very close. I wonder how the new ones will be with OCD enclosure

  • Original 69 sounds best from the Youtube audio. But you were in the room and would know best, what was your take? I have the original white knob 69 which is pretty bad ass. Thanks for the demo man.

  • Methinks the bias knob should've been the first one you tweaked, and once you got that dialed in for each, then leave them and compare all the rest of the settings... I don't know TOO much about fuzz pedals, but... ;):)

Really liking your videos, tho - thanks for posting!

  • I did this same shootout with a old white knob '69 a black knob '69 and a slight return. The white knob and the slight return have the same large body transistors not nkt275. The black knob has nkt275's. In my opinion the white knob and the slight return sound better.

  • the original '69 and im glad I have one.

  • I like the vintage

  • Thanks for the demo! I prefer the vintage 69. I don't now why but for the 3 months we trying to get it properly running in our band setup it looks like a love 'n hate relationship. It's very picky in what position you put it in the chain and with the kind of amp you match it. The last week it sounds terrible, i hope we didn't fry one of the germaniums. It's off for a checkup now, it almost would be a crime if the 69 is burned, it is one hell of a great pedal! If you can get it, buy it..

  • LOL they are very much the same! The differences found in these two pedals could just be component variation which would exist between any two pedals with the same circuit. may be he payed more attention to the SR? I hope not, does that mean mike didn't care about the original. come on guys.

  • SR sounds more compressed, original seems to have a bit more body...

  • I liked the SR better. More saturated while the original was a little bit cleaner.

  • They sound very similar, with the SR a bit more "overblown". Not really sure I would like that. I used to own a 69 but sold it. Was not crazy about it. As far as fuzz faces go, I think I would try something else.

  • Awsome demo! Yeah, the Slight is darker and more agressive. Got the orig. with the Slight on the way. Can't wait! Thanks!!!

  • I prefer the '69, not the "Slight Return," at least from this demo.
