Does anyone have the title sequence from the Archie and Sabrina show. The lyrics were, "And here's Sabrina on her broom, Betty and Ronnie know where it's at."
That sounds like the opening for the syndicated "The Archies" show which came out in the US in 1977. If it is, the opening was voiced by Dallas McKennon; the animation for the opening being a mixture clips from past Archie shows with the "Funhouse" opening sequence being used a lot when the kids would scream "The Archies, The Archies." Closing sequence consisted of more various clips with a tedious theme that repeated the same thing over and over and over. I don't have a copy of it anymore.
I wish I had it to post. From what I've been told, Classic Media (current owners of the Filmation libary) have a mute print of the Comedy Hour opening. However, I've posted several times on the internet to try and find someone that has a recording of the actual theme. So far, nobody has responded. If I could get a recording of the theme, I could forward it to Classic Media and maybe they could merge it with the mute opening and post it for us.
CBS-TV was the perfect television network to carry all the great Filmation classics like The Archie's!!! Whenever you watch these cartoons, you can still feel as if you are still tuned to CBS to see them. Dallas McKennon (spelled something like that) remains alive in 2009, though born in 1919, the man behind the voice of Archie Andrews. Great classics for all generations!!! Thanks a million for posting.
Filmation's properties were so "HOT" in the 60's and 70's... I never, ever dreamed that their archives would be bought and sold all around the world like some thrift store item. Very sad.
the worst part is the chopping was done simply to cut time and it seemed to be wherever the razor blade found. Some of the crappiest editing ever. At least their "New Adventures of Superman" survived better thanks to DC. Too bad Archie publications didn't have the foresight to protect their property in the matter.
Agreed. Their license for Filmation to make the show should have included a clause that Archie Comics would retain ownership rights. Archie was a VERY HOT property in the late 60's and early 70's. It was probably the best time ever for Archie Comics what with all the licensed products that were out there.
Nope, but I don't remember there being any. I've got one commercial I found for the initial stuff that came out in 1968, but it was voiced by a regular spokesperson, and then Sugar Bear took over the commercial for the Archies records since they were on his Super Sugar Crisp Cereal. I've also got a commercial or two for the later Archies records that came out on HoneyComb and Alpha Bits, but they aren't hosted by The Archies either. They originally came off YouTube as well.
The Archies videos that he had online were from the first season show "The Archie Show" from the 1968-69 TV season. If I get some free time, I'll see if I can get them back online here. They are currently available in "The Archie Show" DVD boxset from Genius Products.
Well, I had forgot that 99% of the stuff in "The Archie Show" DVD boxset has the wrong speed and pitch due to the PAL to NTSC conversion, since a UK firm now owns the old Filmation stuff and it has been digitized over there, so I am not going to post from these. Instead, I'm going to attempt to retrieve the song segments from my old Beta tapes that were put out back in the late 70's and early 80's. The stuff on the Nostalgia Video DVDs put out a couple of years ago is also at correct speed.
This was a prime-time special that aired on CBS on a Sunday night in Sept. 1969. However, "The Archie Comedy Hour" used the same intro, but spelled out Sabrina in between the two Archie spellings, and shouted "It's the Archie Comedy Hour" twice at the end.
"The Archie Comedy Hour was on CBS on Saturday mornings starting in Sept. 1969 and ending in Sept. 1970. It was replaced by an hour-long version of "Archie's Funhouse" in Sept. 1970.
You are correct. Click on the "more info" tab about the video for more information about the changes made to this intro for use as the intro to "The Archie Comedy Hour".

I remember Pals Vitamins. I also remember Pals Soap too.
When I was 5 years old I use to beg my mother to buy me Pals vitamins or soap when she took me shopping with her at discount stores.
One of my favorite childhood memories!
