An at least theoretically feasible shot from the perspective, say, of a One Pocket player. But in a game of 9-Ball, where this could easily result in a complete sell-out? It looks to me as if Ramil merely intended to jam the 5 there (= leave it in close proximity to where the 8 was) and get the cue ball safe behind the 9.

If the 9 weren't there he would've had to go around the world with the cueball. Had he used the same speed he did bumping the 9, all sorts of bad things could've happened.
