  • Was at Wright-Patterson AFB sometime around 1976-77 when the "NEW" A-10 was being Structural tested then. Remember seeing the wing structure in the jig being put through the motions. Now 30+ years later they are doing it again. One great plane.

  • Long live the hog!

  • They are still improving the A-10? Isn't it supposed to be replaced by a varriant of the F 35 in the near future?

  • @MasterJoseph It is a misnomer to think that just because you **might** have a replacement airframe, that you would let your existing airframes go into obsolescence. The Thunderbolts II will be viable for years to come, with or without the Lightnings II ever coming online.

  • @MasterJoseph. When the F-35 gets to shoot with a GAU-8 Avenger, then it will replace the A-10.. till then... its just another multimillion dollar fighter jet.

  • @MasterJoseph

Nothing will ever replace the flying gun with attached wings.

  • I got to go to the Barry M Goldwater range and watch them practice at the bomb range with their Gun, Rockets, and Bombs. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen. Check my profile and you will see a video of that day.

  • Very interesting.

  • Such an impressive weapons platform. In the air-superiority world of high altitude and even higher speeds, bringing in 'low and slow' for those special jobs all to reinforces the need for diversity in our arsenal.

  • Awesome Information! I loved it!

  • nice
