@janinapalmer1 no. the blackburn version was land based ground attack, not carrier based. they had a slicker canopy and no tail hook. lighter under carriage. larger payload. built in blackburn at the salmsbury they produced 240 of them.

Was bases at RAF Gibraltar in '74-76 and used to watch the Buccaneer land from time to time. The big thrill was standing alongside the runway and watch a pair take off in tandem.... one behind the other. You could feel the rush reverberate through your body........great days indeed.

Yeah Gibraltars top when theres some Milirat gear visiting, last time i was over at my mates there was a couple of tornados over, and another time the typhoon was there, theres a clip knocking about on youtube

Terminal cracking of the wing main spar finished it off.Beyond economic repair. I worked on the aircraft in the 60's in the RN.

I read up on the Buccaneer, at tree top level this plane can outrun even the most cutting edge planes fielded by modern air forces. Apparently, Bucc pilots enjoyed racing around at treetop heights outrunning F-16s and the like.
