There are so many people here who are 'upset' or 'disappointed' in Bear Grylls having a different belief in what they do. I found this man super interesting before and now I greatly respect him as a person.I find that I usually gravitate toward people that turn out to be Christian. Just like when I learned that Tory Belleci was a Christian; I was completely over-joyed.

Okay, I'd like to say, that no one will ever really know what "religion" is the right one. That's where faith comes in. Even though I'm a Christian, if someone finds solace in something else, whether it be a religion or maybe something like music, I'm happy with that. I'm happy for them. As an atheist, it does not bother me nor affect my admiration for this man having learnt of his faith. He has been trained in the UK special forces, requiring not only an incredible physical peak but inconceivable mental strength. An atheist's greatest criticism of religion is that it is a crutch upon which the weak (or, those unable to think for them self) stand. I think such a charge would be a folly if directed at Bear, as very few humans would possess either his resolve or worldliness.

I am a Christian, I for one don't mind being "attacked" by these "atheists" if you can call it that, i see this as play, banter, if you like. No one will lose their faith as a Christian in these debates, it will only gauge how weak, or strong your faith is.

As an atheist, it does not bother me nor affect my admiration for this man having learnt of his faith. He has been trained in the UK special forces, requiring not only an incredible physical peak but inconceivable mental strength. An atheist's greatest criticism of religion is that it is a crutch upon which the weak (or, those unable to think for them self) stand. I think such a charge would be a folly if directed at Bear, as very few humans would possess either his resolve or worldliness.

Is that not what counts right there? We might not be in the death zone on Everest, but thats just geography. We are however in the death zone where ever we are right now in our lives and there is no place for atheism.

I don't need to see the wind to know it blows. I'm also very choosey who I comunicate with and I'm not fused in someone who thinks Pokemon exists.This isn't about religion it's about faith, massive difference.
