August 2011, My sister, niece, nephew and I had a fabulous eye opening learning experience at the Maeslantkering Nieuwe Waterweg; the bilingual tour guide did an excellent job explaining the purpose of dams and dikes, and gave us a very clear understanding of the dike, dam and water flow engineering that has created, saved and protected Holland over the years.
