Fritz Kreisler playing Fritz Kreisler -- wow! No one has ever played Kreisler like Fritz himself. Once I had heard him, he spoiled me for anyone else's rendition. Exquisite little gem!
Just been to a concert in Gaschurn in the Vital hotel and heard this delightful melody. played by Peter Clemente accompanied by Ritva Sjöstet on the piano.
Thank you very much for the way you presented these two recordings--I hear a much more mature and creative violinist in the 2nd recording...his unique style seems polished and well solidified here and it is absolutely undublicatible, Kreisler
@merrihew As much as I trust your taste (we have to stop meeting like this), I don't agree. If only all violinists were cursed with such faulty intonation. I do think the 1942 version is a bit heavy on affectation compared to the several earlier recordings I've heard, probably because of the orchestral arrangement.
Un'esecuzione cosi' tenera e romantica!

What a privilège to enjoy Kreisler's maestria. Thank you! Do you know Ephrem Zimbalist?

The 1942 version still has the Kreisler magic but the 1941 accident did affect his intonation a bit.
