  • There is no way we can replace all the oil cars with electric cars. Not enough lithium or the other rare earths required.. Only the rich will have electric cars.

  • U go breed horses ill go drive an electric car

  • We're about as fucked without oil as people were 200 years ago. Time to start breeding horses and selling barrels of oats you lazy fuckers. This unatural way of life will not last forever and people will just have adapt and get use to it.

  • iv talked to pickens before when i was working for reliant. he is a good guy.

  • Hopefully wind, solar, and a natural gas energy will help the economy. How? Creates a lot of short term construction jobs. After that, there will be a lot of maintenance jobs. Solar panels and wind farms are subject to failure just like everything else. We will need people to repair them.

  • @Delta094204 -

    'economy' is not about jobs and money - thats micromanagement & human hierarchy;

economy /prosperity is about resources. So do solar/wind provide as much energy, thats the only questions

  • We use 1 billion barrells every 11 days.

  • Natural gas is not the answer. The natural gas solution is a very temporary solution at best. Without an endeavor to develop alternative energy (that will dwarf the moon landing and Manhattan Project in comparison) we must plan on losing perhaps over 5 billion of the current world population. Simple science and mathematics folks. There is no magic substitute for the laws of thermodynamics. Energy equals food. Energy equals life. Less energy, less life support.

  • @jjstoney1 True. Historical graphs show the correlation of oil and population growth. Is this why the US gov't has gone from 200 biochemical plants to 1300+ in tens years? A pandemic is a sure solution to a social security, medicare and food crisis . Don't believe me? The covert factions in the US gov't. will kill you and me. So, stop fucking around, get smart real fast, educate yourself, drive less, drive small and never re-elect any incumbent. They're bought off by big Corporations.

  • wow this sounds like a shame,

  • wow this sounds like a shame,

  • Around 1:19 or so, funny but priceless, Saudis are paranoid with wealth.

  • Why would they bring it back down? Well, they broken the economy and theoretically changed US foreign policy.

The price of oil came down. We can be sure the price of oil is not going to say low. Supply is going down, demand is going up. The supply demand curve is against us - big time. Price is heading north. Next time it will not come back down. Prices will drift over $100 soon and that will likely be the end of cheap oil. In the long term all of this is short term thinking that will kill us!

  • Notice that the interviewer doesn't say "What about conservation?"

  • @alexanderheiler Conservation is a very short term solution to a forever problem. It will only buy a little time. However, in that short time, we must completely rethink our behavior and attitudes. Conservation is nessessary, but only works for a very short time at our rate of consumption. We will always need oil for it's the chemical that is in everything we make. So, transportation and home energy use must be quickly revamped. World trade will be slowed and a world war is inevitable.

  • Comment removed

  • @octaviaaugustus1950

If we continue our rate of consumption, then it's not conservation, right?

  • there will be ethanol in cost of food prices. When richest cared about poors? There will be hungry people in poor country but richest woudn't care when they need to move around

  • Texas recently turned off the Wind-turbines that were over producing because the lines could not handle the power, and left on the coal power plants instead, how dumb is that! These guys only care about keeping what has to end, foreign oil, poisoning our air, water and land! He is nothing more then a shim sham man, he has gotten on my last nerve!

  • T Boone Pickens is a butt hole i can't stand this dude, his whole plan was to stick with hydrofracing, which is putting at risk our only drinking water! Less then 1% of the Earth's water is drinkable, and their process of putting 562 chemicals, heavy metal and other nasty things underground, is put our drinking water at risk!

  • Why do the ignorant people keep defending against peak oil saying we have plenty of it? Peak oil is NOT about running out of oil (there is plenty). But the cheap extraction is over. Supply will peak while demand and population growth exponentially increase.

  • @gotitans999 it want be over until everylast drop of oil is raped from the land and then the powers that be will rape the populist with a new source of energy whether its solar or wind or nuclear. but one thing for sure your pockets will be raped

  • Re. natural gas, watch the trailer for the documentary Gasland. The extraction method T.Boone is referring to pollutes the water table and has caused many documented cases of cancer and other serious health problems.

  • He'll be back in the news....

  • idiosyncrasy, people are blinded by the lies. We can't run out of supplies you idiots are fooled by hoax, I hate to stand Americans any longer they are most atrocious pieces of garbage left on this Earth.

  • You ain't gonna run cars on natural gas without countless billions been spent to gear the motor industry towards this new technology. You gotta install infrastructure towards this as well as the science and research and its not gonna happen in time. The cost would be colossal. This whole peak oil thing is like a slow moving train wreck heading right at us. Industry will need twenty to gear towards it and many experts believe peak is upon us in 2012-2014 if not already.

  • no such animal as clean coal!

  • Nothing replaces oil. You cant make tires out of NG. Cant make plastics out of NG. Cant drive cars with NG. Get out of the city and grow food.

  • What a sleazy little opportunist... Along with other criminals like Maurice Strong, Al Gore, David Suzuki... These criminals pied pipe the foolishly uniformed through there fraud scheme

  • No, the oil companies throttle the supply so it creates artificial scarcity. Research what happened during the oil rush of 1900s. Of course he wants you the think there is a scarcity. Truth is antithetical to scamming for money.

  • Pickens is heavily invested in nat gas...we're better off using the power from wind to directly power plugin hybrids and electrics...The volt, Leaf, Focus etc..

  • This idea to use natural gas to move cargo all over the US is downright stupid. For one, we should ship cargo from the west coast to the east coast on water for 1/35 the energy! Down to panama and back up to the east coast. Trains can be used for shorter long distance shipping and the longer the train the more you save. Maybe the last 50 miles or so should be on trucks, if that. Trying to waste NG so we can keep being inefficient is downright stupid.

  • @christo930 WE should make use of every alternative energy source possible....the US has great opportunity in wind, solar, coal, natural gas, oil shale, nuclear and geothermal......if we could make use of all of these to bring down our oil consumption it would be a great start

  • I think efficiency might be a better place to start. We will never find a bigger energy source than efficiency, at least not as cheaply and quickly as efficiency.

  • @christo930 I agree....but two things stand clear in my mind......we need to start developing and maiking use of these other energies now......and we need to consider all possibilities

  • I would love to live in Texas. Weather/economy/people combination

is unbeatable anywhere around the world. Lone Star rising deee haaaw!!!!!

  • Cheney needs to take this water thief on a hunting trip! LOL!

  • "It has nothing to do with the value of the dollar"

    BULLSHIT MOTHFUCKER!

  • Lol guess T. Boone got owned then if he was dumb enough to be long crude at $150 before the massive demand shock. Though he can get that cash back going long again, since he's ultimately right about Hubberts peak.

  • cut the population to 50 million in usa, problem solved.

  • Won't help, its the elite few that use the most in the 4 station wagons they drive and luxury items they consume.

Given that 1% of the world use 40% of all resources even a 99% population cull would only reduce energy usage by 60%. So its the lifestyle not just the population.

  • If NG is that abundant, nothing says we couldn't switch transport fuels to CNG without the wind conversion.

  • Pickens is a liar. Don't trust him. He just wants to scam everyone to steal more water and energy for Texas.

Also, he and the head of Chesapeake were among the biggest donators to the Swiftboat farce against Kerry.

  • He forgot we have the world's coal reserves. Coal can be converted into motor fuel. The Nazis ran almost their entire war machine on gasified coal, it's nothing new. It's basically a very high quality diesel. And after the processing it's also cleaner than gasoline. In fact, Gasification can used on just about any organic material, including biomass and plastic waste.

  • "This guy is full of shit. There is plenty of oil. Russia and Indonesia have made two huge oil finds this year" Then you didn't listen to what he said. His whole point was that the US relying on foreign energy supplies puts your nation's sovereignty in jeopardy. The US consumes 25% of the world's oil but produces nothing like that much. The Middle East oil producers have you over a barrel (excuse the pun). You do, however have plenty of potential for solar, wind and tidal power

  • Wither or not Russia has found new reserves, US production has far outstripped our demand. And peak oil production *is* coming, some day. Better to expect the best and plan for the worst.

And, "Where the fuck is our scientific community?" Working where the money is at, the government has made fossil fuels so much more attractive than alternative energy w/ financial incentives, no one wants to take a risk when the money train is fine as it is.

  • What are you 12 years old kid?

why are you even watching this video

  • lier!!!!!

Greedy and evil is what youa are.

We know you are a lier!

  • don't trust this oil man they just put out 500000 more barrels of oil this guy must have a huge ng discovery on his property or right to it also Canada is the #1 supplier to the Usa so if he is trying to say it is going to terrorists he is fucking crazy oh he just bought wind oh thats why he probably wants huge corporate welfare to pay for it this guy is a joke

  • Pickins has some good points except the comment about oil speculators. There was a bill introduced in the Senate this week to provide stronger oversight over oil speculators S. 3268. Its not one solution to fix all problems but its a start. Do your part and call or write your U.S. Senator about S. 3268!!!

  • It is such a shame that all the good men don't want to be president. The only people who want the job are crooks and puppets like Bush, Obama, Clinton, McCain ect. Out of all the people who ran for president, not a single one of them were willing to address the terrible problems we face. A good man would not have the Presidency if you gave it to him.

  • Nice statement.Don't forget both Nixon and Carter wanted and plan for energy independence for the USA back in the 70's.

  • Nader is a good man...a junkyard dog for justice!

  • ha, this is funny. "ARE YOU SURE THEY COULD REACH 150 a barrel?"

Here it is June 4th and it is at $144!

  • We are SCREWED!!!

  • no, "I've got my plan I've got SURVIVALISM!"

  • beckys wearing pantyhose made from peak oil synthetics....... thats hottt!!!!!!

  • and the cake on her face is made of animal products!

  • I think it's safe to say that civilization as we know it is fucked. Nobody seems to want to face the truth of peak oil.

  • remember the 1970's?

That was the year the usa peaked nationally ever since then you have had to import more and more oil to satisfy your growing energy demand and replace your dwindling national production

  • When you have an Oil Texas Tycoon BEGGING for alternative sources of energy.....Peak Oil is here...So I would start buying an instrument of self protection(High powered rifles) with plenty of ammunition, and a Motorcycle on credit(won't really matter if you can afford it or not, the economy will collapse)....

  • You dont understand the whole picture dont you? Or are you just a troll. Name your source for the "200 years of oil left in Alaska" claim. It's just not true, there not even a decade worth of oil left over there. Thats why you are importing so much. The era of cheap oil is over. Deal with it.

  • Research it yourself, or go back to sleep....

  • Don't waste your breath. He's an idiot who doesn't have the faintest idea of what he's talking about. I worked in the oil industry for many years and I do. Anwar has only 3B bbl total reserves, and only half that's recoverable. That amounts to 3 months US demand. Like the fool says. Research it and you'll see.

  • @Z4NL Right. Btw, 200 years with which growth? 200 years tells us nothing at all. Since Russia and China opened up their markets, the predicted 300 years of saudi oil in the 1980s shrinked to 25 years of oil from there according to todays figures :) This change in predictions developed in only 30 years! If someone claims to able to predict anything for 200 years in the future then he is simply mad.

  • @Z4NL We did peak, but that doesnt mean thier isnt alot of oil still in the ground, what they dont tell you is they havnt figured out a way to get the rest out, Oil companys use preasure to get oil out, they dont want to spend ,money on pumping. Its all lies man each side is telling lies. Alaska has at least 100 years of high production if they could figure out a way to cheaply get it out of the ground. Plus thiers billions of offshore oil we havnt even touched in Alaska.

  • "There is enough oil in the Alaska area alone for over 200 years."

Only if we extract that oil at the rate of ten barrels per day :)

  • Where did you hear that? From Lindsey Williams, whose claims I have extensively researched and found nothing to confirm? Trust the oil geologists who know what they are talking about. Even if we could bring ANWR online today, it would only postpone the peak by a few months or at most a year. Same with that so-called giant field discovered undersea near Brazil.

The fact is you need many of these giant fields coming online JUST TO REPLACE THE DECLINES IN EXISTING FIELDS.

  • true, but try explaining that to the average idiot..... he only understands what he sees, as soon as his supermarket can't fill up the shelves anymore and trucks are standing still blocking the highways, only then will the average Idiot understand!

  • It's official we reached peakoil

  • great.. natural gas is already $12.00!!!!! how can we afford to heat our homes then?

  • It will be over 20 buck in a year. NG is lagging oil and will catch up.

  • load up on guns and bring your friends, its fun to loose and to pretend.

  • I found it hard, just hard to find,

some oil, oh well, whatever, nevermind

  • $134 bl and going up, at this rate his prediction of $150 is optimistic.

"Energy efficiency isn't just a free lunch it is a lunch you are paid to eat" Amory Lovins

  • Becky Quick do me and you a favor. Base your whole career on reporting "peak oil". You will be a "superstar"!

  • Unfortunately she's a CNBS bimbo who thinks she's a lot hotter than she really is.

Harsh? Yeah. But true. She's whored herself out to corporate pimps so I have no sympathy for her. Sorry Becky. You dug your own slimepit. Go lay in it.
