  • I have seen many accordian players in my day of andando en el pedo and i rate joel up there with the best. He is the kind of musician that would play for free because you can see him having a great time and he loves what he does.

  • Joel can use the basses (bajos). His Dad, "Lupe" told him to learn them just in case he was solo.

  • Hi Sidebarr77,

In this clip his only using the bass buttons for the first 30 seconds. Don't know his performances well enough to say that he uses his left hand oftein.

  • el mejor es juan villareal

  • this guy is sooo tasty!!!

  • Joel rocks..awhyeeee!

  • Je n'est connaisa pas c'est Polka, c'est bien, Bon continuation Joel Guzman

  • Conjunto artists mostly don't use the "bajos" bc the reeds make it harder to maneuver back and forth quickly like we do in polkas and scholtzes...In fact they usually get the bass reeds removed so they can use the buttons to get more air into the accordion faster... I got mine removed and though it's very loose, it makes playing faster and clearer so much easier so there you have it

  • yeah, 'cept Joel Guzman is one of the best in the world...such a virtuoso he does play the bass reeds. A one man band if he wants to!

  • no es el mejor

  • e compa de donde essssssss

  • BADASS

  • busy fingers, love the polkas

  • Hey Joel You sure you don't have a little Polish polka blood?

  • Nothing against my man Joel..just thinking out(writing)loud...conjunto music don't use the bass bottons. Why?

  • I guess because we have a Bass and Bajo doing the accompanying. Good question. I bet he uses em when playing the accordion solo.

  • He does use the bass buttons in solo and in group playing.

  • Yup he uses the bass buttons, and so do most of the very old timers. Its the young crowd that dont want to learn,Thinking its to hard. But thats okay too! It all sounds good to me.

  • Well old school conjunto did, my personal opinion is that with the electric bass you just get a nicer sound. You have all of the accidentals and transitions that get you where you want to take the music. Another school of thought would suggest that accordion players just concentrate on the melody kind of like a lead guitarist.

  • if you notice joels playing he does use them, but yeah its not to common for us tejanos to use them and i dont know why.........

  • awesome muy bueno joel el numero uno y el sonido de la acordion muy bueno felicidades

  • A TODA M

  • este vato si que es chingon arriba el valle de Texas y toda su musica

  • good to see that tradition never dies

...long live tony de la rosa
