We had to give our guinea pigs away because we found out my dad was allergic to them. I was quite relieved though, because even though I loved them lots, we didn't let them get used to us first so they became quite violent. I'm trying to persuade my parents to get them again though so we can look after them properly and be much better owners as I feel so bad about doing that to Luna and Stardust </3

Hello, After a month of convincing my parents to get me a guinea pig, they finally trusted me to take care of a pet and i got one a few weeks ago. After we brought one home, we put him in his cage and he hid in his little hiding place in his cage. We decided to get another from the same guy and so we did and we brought him home. They are happy now, they have everything they could possibly need, but they never let me go near them. Can anybody give me tips on how to have them trust me plz?

@supershiez Wheels and exercise balls aren't really ment for guinea pigs because they are hard on their backs but people use them anyway. I wouldn't recomend using them alot though.

Well I had babie guinea pigs and I took the males away after 4 weeks because the males can get the mom pregnant if you have any in your litter. The females can stay tell 4 weeks to. If you have any males in the cage with the pregnant pig take him out before an hour after the birth or the mom will get pregnant again.

It is NOT good to put vit C in their water. It changes the taste and they end up drinking less. Plus ascorbic acid degrades rapidly once added to water. The vit C doesn't even last 24 hours in water.

It is better to get the tablets and feed them to the pig. 50 mg I believe is the recommended daily amount.

They can have lettuce (all kinds), but to guinea pigs, they have no nutritional value and it just makes them fat, so ocasionally as a treat. They can't have any onions or anything from that family either, because it can be toxic to them.
