hey easymelon, this sounds like a dropped D tuning and very much like a Nick Drake style of song. don't know how much you know about guitar or alt tunings but try dropping the bottom e string down to a d. It's great to hear Rich embrace a great guitarist and song writer like Nick Drake. If you really enjoy this song and haven't heard Drake's music and playing try him out.

Rich's does a very fine job writing his own material with this one. Also the open G posting makes sense too.

Not 100% sure cuz I havn't tried it, but most crowes songs are in open G sometimes open E. I would try that.

i was lucky enough to see Rich at three shows on his solo tour at a little blues club in Harvard Square in Cambridge Mass.Every show was more amazing than the last, he is a true professional and a fantastic song writer. His vocals are more about a feeling than being dead on in tune, all from the heart.Reminds me of Ry Cooter.
